Comic’s competition are literally any other form of entertainment. Movies, games, trading cards, D&D, etc... If we’re talking about only earnings, comics lose 99% of the time when compared to other hobbies.

What really doesn’t help their case is how much they antagonize their consumers. Sure, piss off the people buying your product, it’s not like your product is easy to find on pirating websites. TUG makes this argument a lot, what incentive is there to buy from people who hate you, when the product is fully available for free on the internet?

I’m not even gonna go into how large the annual earnings are for Video Games and Movies to prove my point. Let’s check other hobbies. Trading cards, $1.2 billion. Board games $3.2 billion. Even hobbies that aren’t that mainstream like model building make >$2.2 billion annually (kinda cheating since LEGO is used in this estimate).

“Print media is dying” they scream as manga sales reach $12.98 billion in physical sales. “But Muh Digital Sales!”, you fuckers aren’t selling anything worth showing, manga on the other hand made $1.67 billion in digital sales. AND these statistics are from a year they did poorly in.

ETA: I was half asleep while writing this and didn't notice that the source for trading cards are for digital trading cards, so the actual number is >$1.2billion.

I'm not a money man, but here are some basic thoughts that regular Joe Schmoe should be asking about comic book health. Comic books should WISH they were stagnant/stabilised; lets go with your 2013 517.66 million, for comics to be stagnant then sales would have to reach 561.94 million just on inflation alone.

Now throw in; more books published today (~501 to 414), lower sales overall (8.78 to 8.02 million), deliberate overships and bullshit variant cover crap Marvel is pushing to increase numbers i.e. Wolverine #1 350k into #2 80k*, higher average price points (average +50c per book), 2013/14 being first real foray into the digital market and deeper market saturation of IP's due to movies. Comic books as an industry doesn't look healthy and you have to be delusional to think it's at an OK level.
*Variant cover bullshit has almost 1/2 million books from wolverine and FF in the last 2 months. Without variants and deliberate overships, you might be looking at <7 million books 'sold'.

Honestly I don’t think Quesada even understands the math himself. He just sees the big numbers next to the single issues and that his stupid Spider-geddon event is in the #3 slot and assumes that the industry can’t possibly in a decline.

This is also the month they dumped a ton of stock at Ollie's so I'm thinking that also had something to do with the marginal bump.
 
The bogus DMCA claims are pretty actionable. I don't really think much of libel/slander by itself in the context of an autistic Internet slapfight when virtually anything can be dismissed as nothing more than overheated rhetoric rather than factual claims. Also he can't sue third parties over shit that other people said even if he approved them. Standard § 230 stuff.

The DMCA stuff is also fairly straightforward. Did the defendant make the claim? Did the defendant own the property? Is it obviously fair use?

By comparison who wants to spend the next several years proving they aren't Mecha Hitler before being required to prove they were actually harmed by these autistic claims? Who wants to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for a chance to explain sperged out NPC memes to some 80 year old judge?

I honestly do not think that Joey Q or any of the editors and creatives at Marvel really care about sales. This is clearly a case of the inmates running in the asylum with said inmates obsessed with recreating the comics community in their own warped image and driving the longtime customers out. Their primary obsession is with diversity and, "allowing other voices to be heard" whether they have anything to stay interesting to say or not. The main reason why they get away with this is because as long as these "creatives" will work for less than a living wage (also note that some, like Jim Zub, have full-time jobs and do comics on the side), Ike Perlmutter won't care. Neither will Dinsey because Marvel Entertainment's earnings are meager compared to Marvel Studios.

That's part of why the focus on these "woke" idiots exists in the first place. They're more interested in pushing an agenda than making a living and will work for nothing for "representation." This also serves to drive anyone with any actual talent out of the business and into one where they can actually get paid in something other than asspats.

I'm not really surprise they are trying to take down anyone that criticize them or trying to achieve their antics. One of the best things about social media is that it is easier for some people to show their true colors than before.
 
lol just yesterday I saw one of the anti-CG accounts saying that their side didnt dox TUG, kiwi farms did, now TUG is on here posting the names of random fat fucks who apparently use their full name on twitter anyway
so we only dox anti-CG people on direct orders from Ya Boi and EVS, but also we doxed a CG person instead of them, and also CG people are on here posting dox instead of regular kiwis. These people are retarded and I hope they never stop:story:
 
It looks like TUG might have mixed up the WordPress blog hosting service (https://wordpress.com/) with the open-source WordPress blog software (https://wordpress.org/), which anyone can download and host on their own server outside of the control of anyone associated with WordPress, which is what Rottman appears to have done. A fair mistake, but Rottman's right; nobody at either WordPress organization has any control over the content of Rottman's blog.

Rottman, TUG might be reading your entire article, but if he's also attaching a non-trivial amount of commentary to it, it arguably falls under fair use. Also, if you go by "Rick Rottman" on Twitter, identifying you as "Richard L. Rottman II" on the Farms is hardly a dox. relax lol

TUG, trying to get Rottman to take that off the goddamn internet is playing by the enemy's own censorious tactics, but if you're going to do it, at least use the proper channels. But it'd be best to just relax lol
