In my mind, there is only one measure of inclusivity: sales. You know how to achieve sales? By making things fun! That appeals to everyone. Any idea that fun needs to be sacrificed for the greater good is misguided.

Another method is not hating/trying to replace legacy customers completely, especially with lower spenders.

Guess who’s back from her dream job of esports gambling:

Yeah but nobody cares about Valiant so it's still funny.
I wonder which wonderful character will get the privilege:

It’s probably fatty:

I would've made a joke about Valiant being the Chinese bootleg equivalent of the Big Two but I'm fairly certain they are unironically owned by a Chinese company that bought them for potential movie IPs.

Modern Marvel Comics is on the road to collapse. Sooner or later, the MCU will complete itself, and Modern Marvel isn't going to cut it for profit making.

So either the company gets liquidated for its IPs, or it gets a massive overhaul.

I'm pretty sure it's already there. Marvel was bought wholesale by Disney and Disney likely bought them for the IPs to make movies, rides, and merchandise - not to try and revitalize the dying print comics industry.

Totally not a comics fan, but am I seeing Matt Damon, John Cena, Baron Samedi, Hank Venture and Pam from Archer.
Tbh if that fucking Faith comic was written with her being a superhero version of Pam from Archer I would...ok I probably wouldnt buy it but I would be damn tempted to pirate that comic. Seriously Pam is objectively a better written and more progressively characterised female character than literally the past half decade of "STUNNING AND BRAVE NEW WAMMEN ICON" mary sues from the entire comic industry.

Instead we get....this

Though tbh this is fiendishly hilarious in hindsight once you take into context the fact this was published like a week or two before the election....goddamn I wish I thought to make a thread archiving all the different hillary propaganda comics back when that shit was being churned out by the tonne

Wtf is with that art style? Did Marvel hire the Wikihow art team?

Heather Antos used to work for Marvel and now has to slum it at Valiant. That's a huge step down for her.

Valiant Comics used to not have Heather Antos working for them and now she does. That's a huge step down for them.

Faith could probably also work if the powers and superhero status helped drive the character to lose weight to promote a healthier example to others or if the second life gave her the confidence to make changes in her personal life like getting a job that was more than "Buzzfeed writer". There's potential for a character like that who starts off in a slump (health, career, personal life all in decline) and then works their ass off to reach what they see as their ideal self.

However, that doesn't appear to be the case at all with Faith. Instead of rising to the occasion, it reads more like the bar is lowered for her and she's already presented as being more or less at her ideal.

On the subject of hilarious pre election propaganda comics, here is a good demonstration of the feeling immediately before and after the election in REEEEE world

Wynona Earp already has a show. Are they paying Syfy to run it? If so lol.

SyFy picks up half the needed costs of production. Part of that loan is to fund the other half in the desperate hope they can sell it overseas. You couldnt make this shit up.

I figured this would be coming. I grew up with comics and watch the slow crumbling from the inside but some people act as if this is a new thing that this culture and politics just now became a problem. It's been in comics for a while but mostly the seriousness was met with an expected reaction or played up for a laugh. Thing is these people take themselves to seriously and hamfist their ideology into their writing and is made to be less of a progress than a crutch. After reading Faith you see that it's not an active innovation it's a product of trying to act as if her normal is what everyone else is supposed to precieve as normal.

That's why it's so baffling as the potential is there but ignorantly ignored to push another less productive idea.
