It's 2 hours a week over 6 weeks. So 12 hours total. I could probably spend like 40-50 hours lecturing about all the shit you need to do long before posting a Kickstarter page. Posting the page is easy. Any idea guy can pitch his latest mental masturbation then completely fail to deliver on it.

Ethan Van Sciver Commissions ‘Retailer Exclusive’ Dynamite Crossover Covers With Cyberfrog, Beginning With Vampirella

Back in the day, retailers used to commission star comics creators to draw a cover for an upcoming comic book, usually from DC or Marvel, that would be exclusive to their store. Each store would have to order thousands of copies to make it worthwhile for the publisher.
Some enterprising artists realised they could commission themselves to draw exclusive covers of such comics, get the publishers to print them, and then sell them online, or at shows, signed or unsigned, for a considerable markup. J Scott Campbell, Rob Liefeld, John Tyler Christopher are amongst those creators who have done so the most, and soon the habit spread.

At Dynamite Entertainment, which asks for fewer minimum copies to be printed than Marvel and DC, Dan Panosian did such for Red Sonja #1 as did Paolo Pantalena, as have other artists for different titles.
The latest, it seems, is Ethan Van Sciver. No longer working for major comics publishers and fresh from last summer’s very successful Indiegogo campaign for Cyberfrog: Blood Honey, the comic is yet to be published. But Ethan is now commissioning himself to draw Cyberfrog variant covers to Dynamite Entertainment titles, showing his cyborg amphibian interacting with other characters published by Dynamite. At one point, Vampirella and Cyberfrog were both published by Harris Publications, and Ethan has done artwork for Vampirella trading cards and inked the Vampirella/Shadowhawk crossover in the day, so this wouldn’t be the first time he’s been involved with the character. But I hear there are more to come, one might consider Chaos!, Pantha and others as prime Cyberfrog crossover comic book cover candidates.
Traditionally, creators who purchase the comics are treated the same as any retailer. Whether the creators of any of those books will have any say in who gets to do retailer exclusive variant covers of their books, I don’t know.
But basically that means that Ethan Van Sciver has bought hundreds of copies of the same comic, with a cover he drew, for a wholesale price that retailers pay, maybe aroud two bucks each, and gets to sell them at quite the markup. Well, it’s one way to get a Cyberfrog comic out there for convention season, draw the character on the cover of someone else’s comic and sell that…

That must have really rustled Rich’s jimmies, he’s been trying to kill EVS’s career for over half a decade and now he had to make a piece about EVS’s return to non-crowdfunded comics. The article even reads like he’s bitter that he even has to write about it lol.

The thing I still don't get about anti-CG is how they're unaware talking like they do to their customers applies to the audience they want as well. If you think your audience is full of privileged white dudebros who need to be removed than you already justified the same actions towards whatever new audience shows up. You know, whenever the industry decides they need to be "replaced" as well.
 
Man, EVS is just as infected as the rest of pros (minus "the diversity" part) isn't he? He's doing the exactly the same "I'm the flawless entertainer and also a rockstar" you hear from Gail

thats just a persona and he is pretty good at interacting with costumers. he is also much bigger than Gail, his art is iconic for a very succesfull and beloved era of a major superhero.

It's the same trashy persona so what's the difference? His customers, everyone who isn't with him gets the same "amazing" sense of Gail-humour. And both are nothing compared to Stan Lee, Neil Gaiman or Morrison yet I never saw them sucking their dicks like that. Making excuses for "our-guy" is a short way to get bitten in the ass later.

Do you have any evidence besides the word of someone who themself isn't trustworthy?

It's what I've been saying since this all started: EVS is no different from those whom he picks fights with and trash talks, except he's on the far-right end of the spectrum as opposed to the far-left. I won't deny the dude does have artistic talent, but with him, that's like painting a steaming hot turd gold and claiming it to be a 14 karat bullion when you take his attitude and the way he carries himself on social media into consideration. It's frustrating that he somehow gets a pass, when he's as much of a cow (if not a cow magnet) as the likes of Gail, Chuck Wendig, Mags, etc.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a fall from grace like Milo Yiannopoulous in the near future. It's only a matter of time at this point.

There are plenty of other right/center-right comic creators out there who don't act like gigantic spergs when dealing with their peers: it's largely how the likes of Bill Willingham, Mitch Brettweiser, and Ethan Nicolle have largely managed to avoid controversy and getting into fights constantly with others over the years in the industry. And even if they do get hit pieces put on them by Bleeding Cool or w/e, their reaction is to just shrug, ignore them, and keep working.

Ethan is not far right. He's a boomer-tier Republican.

Also, I'm going to call bullshit on equivocating him to Gail (for now, at least), because hurling spitballs on twitter isn't the same as trying to destroy someone's career and reputation through organized smear campaigns. It may turn out that Ethan is more involved in War Campaign's gay ops than he currently appears to be, but until that time, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's too much of a dumb jersey meathead to be a fucking mastermind behind the scenes.
 
I want all of these people complaining about the Vader comic to post a picture of their copy of the comic, preferably alongside a receipt. I want proof any of them actually purchased it rather than just hearing about the controversy and then goin' swashbucklin', if they even bothered to do that.

Then, once the actual customers have been found, we can talk about how many of them are aware that Darth Vader has no issue choking subordinates and blowing up entire planets.

I agree that he's not there yet, but that's like saying "She's not a whore real whores have syphilis". So he's not retarded enough to have a secret click of autistic illuminatis... booo fucking hoo, I guess. Still a fat Twitter-sperg, desperately trying to be a stand-up comedian while having no comedic timing, equipped with a dedicated group of super fans who think he's the last rockstar of comics... That's already like 70% Gail right there.
