Lovable 1st grade level mathematician Ron Marz recently started his own crowdfund campaign for his Dread Gods:

It safely passed it goal with 2 hours to spare:

But here's the reason I'm making my post. 4 hours ago, this Campaign was on the verge of failing:
View attachment 848329

Then I noticed that the backer count only increased by 8 backers:

That means these 8 backers dropped a combined amount of $7,160 within 4 hours. This got me even more curious, so I decided to check on the perks (totals only):

Pretty interesting isn't it?
Ron would have been better off taking the loss and trying again later instead of getting his buddies to cover the difference. Yeah it's a little embarrassing since you've been in the game since the 90's, but you're not gonna make money off this, buddy.

Those tier rewards: you can't send an email with a PDF of the book for five bucks wtf.
“You should feel honored to have given us money.”

Simple terms: crowdfunding was metaphorically made for things like indie comics.

Insular industry
High cost of entry
Shit distribution
Starving artists

Why would anyone with talent and a good pitch go with a traditional publisher?

My inner sperglord wishes this was arranged with the "High cost of entry" first so you'd have a great acronym: HISS.

This makes me go 🤔 with such fervor.

"I know I got nothing of value. Except for the pride and accomplishment of wasting donating five dollars."

120 page comic. If you print 100 copies is going to cost over $500 alone. Page rates? That can vary wildly, especially depending on who and how many people are involved.
You're looking at an easy 10k for art if you go cheap. Probably closer to 20k if you want it to look cool.
Do you have 21k to gamble on a book making triple that at direct market to break even?
That's for 100 copies. (Which would make it a $210 comic).
You need backers but there are so many options. The future is getting closer to creator owned properties and a direct to consumer market. Creators are already responsible for marketing the companies product.
I meant finish doing the pages (or half of them) first then after you're done working on the book and have work to show for it crowdfund it to get it released. if you're writing and waiting for an artist why don't you have your script finished you know I'm just tired of I have an idea funded for me before you even began really working on it besides doing the pre work. I'm just. Armchair comic book making so you know disregard me if you will.

When I see some of the SJW indie comics which they're asking for money for, I wonder what fucking gumption they have.

I'm putting together a comic myself, and as I can't draw very well I'm using customized 3D models which I recolored in GIMP and filtered ... it doesn't look terrible, it's fine for indie but clearly "not ready for prime time", as Ya Boi Zack says, so I plan to put it up for free. But it looks better than some of the shit SJWs spew out and ask for money for ...

Ethan Van Slott @FROG is sperging again. This chick is being stalked online by a wc fag and he calls the chick a bitch for openly talking about it. "[He's] not representing Comicsgate when he says this shit" -Ethan Van Sciver pride Month 2019.

She has blue hair so is automatically a bitch.

Hey @Space_Ghost start archiving so no one has to go to Twitter to see, you missed the best part of the comment section.
Lucky for his targets and victims Von Soyver's extensive gay ops pizza whore campaign is mostly self inflicted wounds at this point.

If your dog has a badass blue mohawk you're automatically SJW Scum. Assigning political beliefs for the way someone grooms their dog, exceptional.

Except that this usually is the end point of interacting with blue haired weirdos on Twitter after they've called you every name in the book and you dare to finally respond to them in kind.

Don't recall that person ever calling Ethan any names, but since you didn't link any caps or threads I guess you're telling the truth and not dick riding Ethan or anything gay like that. Also like how stupid you are to see a blue haired dog and think SJW. Sped.

Do we have any links to her other conversations? I'm not about to jump on either one's case without seeing more interactions.

For example, we see one conversation to Ethan, has she/he/they contacted anyone else with trash? Just curious if this was built up.

I see this happen rather often. Is it by change that a Kickstarter failing is more embarrassing than having to put in your own money.

I think there's a fair amount of ego involved for sure with regards to getting your friends and family to finish off your crowdfunding for artistic endeavors. if you were trying to develop a product to bring to market like (lol) Ouya it makes more sense considering your profit isn't really coming from the kickstarter but rather distributing your product in the mass market.

Big difference between only Kickstarter backers receiving your work and kick starter backers receiving your work before the general public.
