I was gonna let this shit go with the couple of reports made on this thread, but I am going to have to politely ask that everyone get back on track and start having content based discussion and not argue over and get mad over rumor and innuendo.

In comics news: I promised you all that I would look for Psi-Lords at my LCS. I went to two today, same store, just two different locations and I found copies at one locale - As it stands, it's been a week or a month? I don't know how regularly this shit is coming out, but in-stock still there were 6 copies of issue 1 and 4 copies of issue 2. I don't know how many they order at a time, but I can't imagine it's more than 10 from each. So I'm going to say they sold at least four copies of issue 1 and six of issue 2, though I doubt they ordered as much of issue 1, considering they probably only sold the four. I can't pretend to know how comic stores order bulk.

FEARLESS!!! at one location is sitting at 11 copies, while at the other location, a whopping 18 stack the shelf... These motherfuckers are NOT moving, but it did just come out Wednesday, so I'll keep an eye out next week to see if there is a difference.

My LCS is having a pretty huge sale today, so I am going to take the chance to buy some backstock I need to get.

Drop off is typically brutal for most books over the first three issues. The shop probably ordered 8 or 10 of #1, then 5 or 6 of #2, and 3-4 of #1 for Psi-Lords.

And... that's a lot of copies of FEARLESS. I wonder how many they'll have next week, because that's how many are gonna go in the $1 bin. Or the shredder.

I'll just comment that it takes a certain type of pigfucker to be both laughable enough that both sides of a tardfight rejected him, and malevolently retarded enough to not just stalk a man alongside other pathetic thirstposters, but then try and character assassinate former friends out of ass-mad and make it boring to boot.

To keep on topic, Ben Henderson's great at showing the Do's and Don'ts of Indie-funded projects. It's just he's good at showing how not to run one and how to spot out a potential grifter. Seriously, he should be busy trying to fix his fuck ups and actually ship out the damn book that people paid him for; fulfill his oath and thus make certain that people will continue to fund him. But nope; had to go on a comic tour binge to show himself off and get his name out there, all while proving he can't be trusted to deliver on time or satisfy the customer.

He has managed to prove to me why I'll never fund anything he fucking makes given this shit.

Yeah that was pretty much my thought, you start off high with a number 1, then go down if the sales plummet, and if they only sold 4, they sure as shit ain't buying another fucking ten just to sell three. I'll definitely keep my eye on Fearless and others like Valkyire, because I feel like being a vindictive cunt.

Sales always drop because the issue 1 impulse, off the rack buy brings in new people. The problem usually is the first issue is so weak that you don't get that must buy feeling about the second issue.
These "pros" -should- treat every comic as if it's their last. I'm not talking indie or pay to play image comics, I'm talking about people hired to draw commercial mainstream IP.
The one thing you can say about the past few years of Van Sciver comics is that they are masterpieces, beautiful works of art and storytelling and his cover work got me to buy a book more than once.
SJW's treat every comic as a chance to spread a message, not tell a story. Mark Waid, Rucka, Morrison, have all written good stories in the past.
Sales would improve for the big 2 if Disney treated their comic employees like they do their park employees. I only concern myself with indie comic sales because those are the true comic fans that make great storytelling possible.

I’m a comic whale and am at my LCS nearly every Wednesday when they open. They had the 1:50 and 1:100 Valkyrie variants but only about 10 copies on the shelf.

This isn’t the kind of big shop thats ordering 100 copies of B and C tier books. Only major event books like the Hickman X-men launch. There is no fucking way they ordered 100 copies of Valkyrie so I’m wondering if Marvel is throwing in ratio variants with overships now or if it was some kind of incentive?

Yeah, dips are normal. But seeing no copies of later issues is a louder statement than anything. I find anywhere from 0-3 copies of later issues from some series, which is nice to know but also frustrating if I'm trying to get it.

I absolutely agree that current writers should really look at their run as possibly ending at any time. So tell as good a story as you can, and don't commit to long-form arcs. Unless you're King - then you can just do whatever you want apparently. Here's the kicker though, comics should be and mostly is a meritocracy. Valkyrie could be really well written (doubt it) but if no one gives a fuck about another Jane Foster shoehorn then it's not going to sell... It's a gamble, that's the business. But don't rest on your laurels just because you know you'll be fired into your next "mini series" or "team-up" book, GAIL.

It's fine, the artwork itself is decent enough, but you know what would make it better? Some shit going on around her. I'm not going to hang up that shit on my wall, but what I WILL hang up is Catwoman Vol. 3 issue 76, Adam Hughes is a fucking BOSS with covers, and they are easily my favorite to hang up on my wall. Another good indicator of good work? I have that Catwoman issue memorized because it stuck with me.

I definitely don't have any variants of Valkyrie at my closest shop (doesn't mean their other locations don't have them). They are a smaller store, so I doubt they were ordering 10, let alone 100.

That artwork is shit. If they wanted to put a $300 character design so people can "learn to draw" the character (I'm assuming that's what this cover is) that's fine but that cover will not move issues.
The shorter the arc the better honestly. A single issue with two, 12 page chapters is perfectly suitable. It also reads well in TPB form which is ultimately where royalties come into play.
The creator has to sell enough copies to get a TPB that will sell in bookshops and on Amazon if they want their "cut". So the incentive to write a good story isn't just important for the sake of the character and single issue sales, but the sales of trades and reprints of trades.
Rob Guillory apparently got picked up to write a TV series based on "farmhand" I hope I'm not the only one excited about that. He is a good guy and that comic was a labor of love not a Hollywood pitch so I'm happy for him.

That looks like fucking ass. Her position is off balance, the wings make no goddamn sense unless they're anchored from the base of her neck all the way down to her asshole rather then being mounted on the scapula, her arms have that weird Marvel "I don't know how to stand and look badass..." bullshit you see on Arrow and other TV shows, her legs looks two difference lengths, her arms look two difference lengths, her hair is a fucking travesty that would have Ice Man going "Girl, you best get some hair product, queen!", it's non-dynamic, drawn on fucking graph paper like your GM was doodling while the party dicked around trying to decide whether or not to mug a shopkeeper, the sketch at the b ottom right looks like some some shit I'd draw, and my stick-figures look like the victims of a Gamma World mutation bomb.

It's boring, flat, without life or purpose, drawn awkwardly, and doesn't do anything but say "This character may or may not be inside of this book. You should buy it because I like money"

Fuck you, Marvel, for turning into Mr. Krabs.
