#Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

I've been listening while doing shit around the house, basically so far it goes like this

1st Hour - Technical delays, Andy being a sperg on his soundboard, bringing up the Quartering being a bitch on twitter and his and Ethans feud, they then talk about how a bunch of big youtubers actually hate Ethan and have been encouraging them to do a video on him.
2nd Hour - They start watching Ethans video about them, TonkaSaw is the chat derails the thing, they invite Tonka and argue for a abit before booting him, they go back to watching Ethans video, Ethan shows up in chat and demands to be let on because his thin skinned and they basically tell him no.
3rd Hour - They start getting into the meat and potatoes of comicsgate, talk about Doug and Mike S Miller being booted from CG, talk about Ethan monetizing outrage for his bottom line, talk about Marvel and DC going SJW and how there is some validity to CG but feel its been co-opted by Ethan.

Ill edit this post as I go along to include the next 2 hours, but fuck I feel like ending myself right now. This stream is unbearable, the criticisms they have against CG certainly are valid but the delivery is just god awful.

Continuing from above:

4th Hour -They continue watching Ethans video and going back and forth with him in the chat. Ethan goes from pretty calm to typing in CAPS and getting pretty butthurt arguing with them, pleading with Andy that Geek is an SJW who is leading him astray. They criticize Warcampaign for gay OPs and using SJW tactics to silence critics. They go over the history of Ethan being fired from DC and telling a fan to go kill himself.

5th Hour - Ethan rage quits the chat around the 4hr mark. Ado Wulf compares EVS to an eTHOT and Warcampaign to his paypig simps (fairly accurate). Matt Jarbo enters the chat (4:12:10). Geek and Andy go over how Ethans official story for leaving DC keeps changing (first he quit, then he was fired, then the SJWs harassed him out of his contract). Geek claims to have emails that show Ethan was abusive and harassing other writers/artists at DC while he worked there and nobody wanted to work with him. Andy and Warcampaign call a brief truce in the chat and start shitting on Mundane Fatt who proceeds to get shit on by everyone. At around 4hrs 27minute mark Ro Kabir enters and starts spamming "Toronto Eh?" in an effort to intimidate Andy; who laughs it off, corrects him and gives Ro his new current address. Andy and Geek say this will be the first of many Comicsgate/Ethan Van Sciver streams because they have too much material and the stream has been going over 4 and halfs hours at this point. Ro starts claiming that he keeps getting banned in the chat, which Andy laughs at because they have no moderators (Ro lying again, his chats are visible), Geek and Ado confirm no one has been banned. Ro is such an idiot he doesn't know about "top chat" and "live chat" functions in streams and it was youtube itself censoring his messages (fucking moron.) Panboy states that his court appearance for cyberstalking Crypto Comics (Matt Merz) has been postponed due to corona virus. Andy says this will be a ten episode arc, second episode will be going over the Doug TenNapel saga and Edwin Boyette, with a later stream dedicated to the Warcampaigns faggotry. At 5:01:52 Ethan returns to the chat, continues to try and suck up to Warski claiming his been a fan for years.

Probably not going to happen. Unlike others already documented above, Warcampaign hasn't stabbed him in the back as others have. Warcampaign stood with him even when he was lied to and tricked into thinking they were guilty of things they were not. And since he's now at $240,000 in 4 hours and only 31 days left to go, I see no reason he should. It's pretty apparent that he has plenty of audience behind him and it's only going to keep growing.

No one has to like him. Some sure don't. But the numbers don't lie. The drama, Warcampaign, whatever. What he is doing works. Like it, hate it or be indifferent to it.

Doing books is a way better investment of time than 4 hour meandering live-streams. It's gained 10k in the half hour since you posted

This is VERY important. The first campaign was a struggle. Finishing the books, getting the printing issues worked out, fulfillment...all caused massive delays that were based on my NOT BEING PREPARED.

I've gained a quick education from this experience, and feel like I can get these books finished, printed and in the mail before Christmas of 2020. But I've set a shipping date of May of 2021 just to be able to exceed expectations this time.

I've got my printers lined up, fulfillment plan, and most of all, I'm anxious to do this project. CYBERFROG has been a dream job for me, and the story is bursting to be told.

I will not be late this time. That's a promise. If this book is delayed, it'll be because we were invaded by giant alien wasps. Outside of my control. But this frog needs to keep jumping, and I appreciate your continued support!

@FROG Keep your promises and you'll continue to do well. Also I hope you've got the previous complaints sorted out, the black ink ripple effect being the most obvious that comes to mind, this is your chance to 360 dunk on your detractors. Use it.

He really should just move on from Mike, Doug, Edwin, Andy and Geek.
He legitimately has more backers on one campaign than Geek and Andy's stream ever saw at one point.
He has more backers and viewers than any of Mike or Doug or Edwin's stream.

Crowdfunding comics in of itself existed long before Comicsgate ever happened. What separates Comicsgate from simply crowdfunding are concepts specific to it that build upon crowdfunding like branding, tested techniques like building a platform to reach out for customers, and multiple platforms collaborating under said brand in order to get projects funded on a scale basic crowdfunds can't match.

But this all goes out the window when the biggest platforms and the most credible creators involved will no longer collaborate with each other because of unchecked retardation. Then it really is just a couple of successful crowdfund operations. The real threat to the current Comicsgate "establishment"'s future is some non-blacklisted creator taking CG's lessons to heart that has the ability to both create quality comics and build an online platform that doubles as a customer base, but without Ethan's personality flaws. Looking at Gail Simone's youtube though, there's no threat of this happening any time soon.

So looking at Ethan’s campaign, it’s sounding a lot more put together than Blood Honey. The fact he really stresses that he wants the book out on time, and gave himself a lot of time to get the work done, speaks volumes about lessons learned. The Salamandroid one-shot also sounds like a much better deal than the abysmal Rekt Planet Ashcan on the Unfrogettable Tales campaign. That said, the perks seem like kind of a clusterfuck, but it probably makes more sense if you spend more than 5 minutes studying the page.

Despite all the shit I, and others, like to talk about Ethan’s conduct I am genuinely glad for his success. Like I said yesterday, I really liked Blood Honey and I’d like to see more.
