Crowdfunded businesses are never destined to last, because how many people can dump down the amount of money asked by the creators anyway. They may do it once, twice, but after a while, most will realize that they have better, more important things to do with all that money.

Also, this model is antithesis to consumerism in that (a) it prevents casual people from impulse buying and discovering you in the process; you end up becoming increasingly reliant on a shrinking pool of fools, (b) it doesn't afford instant gratification that will help you reach out to casuals who could have been your new fans, and (c) it doesn't allow your products to have a good reach among your targeted consumers.
I agree that how things are now, but don't necessarily have to be.
A lot of things are coming clear in the wash, like how given the investment of time and cash into things like shipping, small overall custmer pool, customers are willing to pay extra for high-end goods - omnibuses, foil and chrome covers, squarebound binding, etc. One major problem is getting and keeping people on-board who are capable of delivering this. The other is a means of low-cost product for developing or uninterested talent wanting to get cheaper comics out the door to customers in a way that's economically competitive against traditional publishing. These things are going to require something innovative, and most creators associated with Comicsgate hem very close to the business path Frog laid out without understanding why it works for him and not them, or that as far as youtube platforms go, they can't just compete solely among each other for a finite viewer pool of people interested in this content.

For example, CreepshowArt is an artist Youtuber with more subs than EVS and Anna combined who makes videos discussing internet drama and sometimes Western comics for an audience of mainly women while she draws Tumblr commissions. I'm sure she wouldn't turn down CG A-list kind of money. But what's the point if all it's going to end with hundreds of thousands of new people discovering a "customer advocacy movement" that welcomes them by calling their beloved creators thots and the customers simps?

So, has anyone followed up on the continuing feud between lolcampaign and the cuck knights?

Cecil, fat fuck who has said countless messed up stuff, is demanding that the bearded faggot Ro apologize to his internet friends.

Not happening.

Liam is now, wisely offering Ro a platform, and the exceptional fuck is challenging Jeremy of Geeks and Gamers to a debate. As if he wouldn't smack the silly right off of him.

So this isn't going anywhere apparently. I remember this was their strategy with every situation. When someone is pissed, don't address it and hope it burns out. It has never worked.

As much as I dislike Ro and Warcampaign, I honestly dislike Cecil even more. Watching these two factions of speds slap each others tits online brings a warm feeling of joy to my heart. I only hope it escalates further thanks to the opportunistic workings of @Tyne under the false notion of "muh peace and reconciliation."

Ro basically calling Liam a disingenuous faggot (I'm paraphrasing) in that last Live with Liam stream was hilarious and you could see the pained look on his face. If you're going to be the CG IBS channel, don't bullshit about how morally you're just trying to do right by everyone and quash beefs, just embrace it you manipulative little fuck. Does Ethan Ralph give a big speech about "hashing out drama" and "doing right by everyone" before he brings on two guests that fucking despise each other? Embrace your inner shitlord Liam and stop being a little bitch.

800 pages means there might as well be a blue whale reference, so I'll point out that currently Ren is making some bullshit up about She-Hulk and acting like she knows a damn thing.

It's funny how much of her online persona matches all the SJW creators' Mary Sue main characters, where what they think is charming sassiness is actually grating sanctimony. But her personality is fictional so that's not surprising.

Or just get together a group that can collectively bargain with whoever prints manga to print books at a similar price. Not everything has to be super fancy if the content is there. All it needs to be is on paper and able to be shipped in a relatively convenient manner.

Don't piss Liam off.

His parents and pets have suffered enough.

Printing things cheap isn't the problem - CG creators can be published through Alterna Comics if they really wanted to (I think only two did). The issue is that they'll all go to the backwater of the LCS stands and make pennies off of, optimistically, a few thousand sales. Or they could print a $2 comic and ship it directly to your house for $10 (this is a big reason why 'premium' CG crowdfunds do better than low-cost comics). Figuring out a third solution for test concepts, developing creators and indie stuff that has no business costing what CG charges like Trixie Cain or PANdemIC, sold cheaply to a large number of customers is the big hurdle.

@5t3n0g0ph3r Zack confirms at the end of this video that Grand bizarre is not a jojo reference.
To celebrate the 800th page of Comicsgate and all the free entertainment it has given us, I thought I would do something different and report on the unsung heroes, the people who don't have the dedicated recap shows by Preston or their own kiwifarm thread chronicling their internet hijinks.
Good post, rated 🧩 for the content
Here's the explanation:

First off, a person can back a project without selecting a perk. Say giving 5$ to the project. That accounts for the additional backers that are not listed in the perks section. That also accounts for additional money.

Second, I believe that the shipping costs are included in the total. That accounts for A LOT of the extra money.
There's also the "ides of March" first 24h only cover perk which can no longer be seen on frogs latest igg. That was said to have done very well so i'd expect a lot of "missing" money and backers from that perk.

Mark Waid could have easily destroyed Zack: Let him publish his Jawbreakers comicbook.
Let all his friends in the media know that he was a Despicable through back channels and get it no press coverage.

Your average LCS would barely order a divisive comic by a Literally Who with a Youtube channel and, if they did, would hardly put it on selves to avoid SJWs sperging over it. Most orders would be for pull lists.
Then, skipping to next comicchron, JawBreakers would be at a 3-5K orders. If there would be next issues, they would drop even lower, to Mags Visagio numbers.
So, DnC would be hard pressed to mock SJW creators having his own comicbook fail AND understand the realities of the comicbook industry.

Instead, what MW did, he made Zack into a victim, a fan who was blacklisted by the evil comicbook industry. And, since a lot of comicbook fans dream of breaking into the comicbook industry, he got a lot of supporters and backers.

The only thing I'd add is that 3-5k from a place like Avalanche Press would have been a phenomenal number.

But as you say, it honestly could not have worked out better for Zach (and EVS) on a professional level.

Yeah, MW is a moron who made the classic tactical mistake of a hubris-bloated megalomaniac: he made a martyr out of his foe, and people are suckers for the underdog.

I've read Zack's first comic - it's painfully average and derivative, although I heard he's improved since. I didn't pay money for it, though - borrowed it - so I can afford to be generous in my opinion. If I plonked down the price of a hardcover novel for it, I'd be having buyer's remorse. If left to sell or sink on its own, Zack's brand name may help him sell some copies to his fans, but it's unlikely to have had the success it had once Zack and his crowdfunding became the rallying cry for CG.

So that's how Ethan's "most hated enemies" spent their Sunday morning not grasping the concepts of factoring in unlisted shipping costs into the total, or that a single backer could order multiple copies of a product, presumably to be resold at a markup on eBay.

Yes, but you assume that shipping product to customers is part of the CG business plan.

Out of the CG projects I backed the only ones that I actually received are Iron Sights and College of The Dead, I've still got a stack of un-fullfilled orders going back as far as Brutas the Badass. Compare that to the four campaignsI backed since cutting ties with CG earlier in the year....all four of which are now in my possession.

If you'd like a great book shipped to you today, I still have a few copies of ALDRAKE VS CHRONAH'S KNIGHTS available!

Let this be a lesson to you people shitting up the #comicsgate thread on kiwifarms dot net

https://youtube.com/watch?v=KxwBS_nn3W8

I only caught the portion of this video where they sperged at Vikki for an hour. (thank God you can speed video to double time to get through it)

Ethan's rebuttal amounted to calling Vikki a dumb bitch, talking about Vikki's voice, Cecil making colostomy bag jokes, and Malin calling it all boring. When they finally got to the point of it all ( the fact the timeline didn't add up and Ethan acted on the green letter before he ever got it 🤔 ) Ethan's response was to laugh and say he doesn't know what happened because he doesn't know anything about the coins.

I wonder if any spergs got a recording. I doubt he pulled the video for the Vikki segment so it would be interesting to see what else went on.

This stream is great! We have Tinfoilhat dude saying everything Vikki and the rest of her side have been saying for a year now and as WarCampaign Tinfoil was calling it all bullshit. He even said he 'won't bend the knee to some guy in New Jersey who wants to control him' because he thinks for himself.

Dude's been unironically hailing Caesar, towing the WC line and attacking anyone who dares think for themselves since 2018.

Down is up, left is right, dogs and cats living in harmony.

Brilliant!!!!!

Just when you think ComicsGate couldn't get anymore exceptional these idiots find a lower gear.

The show was privatized either because of Cecil doxing himself waving a package around on camera or just killing the stream by stepping on everyone else's lines and drunkenly griping how boring Vikki's video was while low-key getting horny over her voice. He did both.

That's disappointing. I'd hoped he pulled it because something people might care about might have happened.

Liam's stream with Tinfoil is great though. Thanks for posting.

Edit:
Listening to Ethan, Cecil and Malin talk about Vikki's voice like it's terrible was funny. Vikki sounds like an angel singing to the heavens next to Mandy.

The butt hurt was strong in that segment.
