I am pretty sure the DMs have resembled night letters for about two years now.
Purity tests were a means of seizing market share in the limited CG pie. The tests have never been applied with any sense of consistency. The questions about Meyer were asked then too but the figure heads had the stroke to keep the pay pigs placated and paying.
Now the pie is shrinking. Now there are fewer pigs asked for more and they are starting to clue in.
Even a hardcore cultist like Liam shows glimmers of foundation for self awareness in his discontent and rebellious rhetoric.
It should be interesting to see what happens with Liam. I do not think he can see the sword of Damocles he loiters under since people started watching his daily shit show.
I believe what we see is CG as a pyramid scheme crashing: people on the lower tiers, who supported IGG projects expecting theirs to be supported in return start to realize they won't.
And this is what kicked of CG, with RCM realizing he won't make it to the mainstream industry while Mags and the Milkshake Girls did.
And this made him popular.
The oCG demo were wannabes who wanted to write/draw Batman or X-Men but kept out of the comicbook industry and/or Wednessday Warriors who wanted to get a new issue of Batman and x-men every two weeks (while there are a ton of stories out there already).
RCM, while talented and, if paired with a good editor, could write an entertaining b-list title had to compete with 100 guys of same skill for 20 gigs. And I get the feeling his tendency to speak his mind did not help him.
What RCM did with JB is that he broke the mainstream industry comicbook pyramid scheme - buying marvel/DC comics and asskissing pros on twitter or virtue signalling to get noticed and maybe get a job.
After Zack challenged the editors, the ones giving jobs to pros and that made him target #1. But MW and the rest of the crew chose to go to war - against a professional soldier
And after that, EVS created a new pyramid scheme to make a million dollar book to stroke his ego and this brought in a lot of the dregs of the comicbook industry wannabes or hasbeens.
Liam is just too exceptional to realize that and, after drinking all the coolaid he shoots way above his weight class.
I am just waiting for daddy Zack come in and lay down some truth bombs. All this time he is subtly telling people to stop drinking the coolaid - and I think EVS is realizing that he created a monster.
I remember watching an old EVS livestream with Zack, that pretty much explains how different these two are:
They are talking about Mafia movies and EVS asks Zack "Would you be a hired Killer?"
Zack is irritated "Are you seriously asking that?"
EVS keeps proding hi, Zack is getting more and more annoyed, so he finally breaks
"What do you believe a marine is?" Zack finally answers.
