>Richard acknowledges that Livestreaming helps sell books, but when he does it he doesn't get work done. I'd point out that this is his job and one four hour livestream, assuming he only does a 40 hour work week would leave him with 36 hours to work.

Oh bullshit. "Zack" can't stomach the world he's created. He feels responsible for the current livestream crowdfunding world and doesn't want to be a part of that. Four hours my ass, he could do it it in less than one - except he'd have to appear on-camera dressed like this to make it work long-term:

Sorry Zack. Be careful what you wish for. You created this. What's your Plan B?

EDIT: Just so I'm clear, this is the future I see for Frog and those who dare follow:

Really, what's the difference right now?

Reminds me of something...

That's only because they renamed them. They used to be included in rodentia. Until fairly recently, European taxonomists still considered lagomorphs as being in rodentia, but in a suborder.
I'm glad the European taxonomists finally caught up to where ours were 108 years ago. Not having access to European biologists, I first learned rabbits are lagomorphs and not rodents from an educational comic strip called Sam and Max: Night of the Cringing Wildebeest (1987). Since this is the comics thread, I thought I'd mention it.

I'm pretty sure he's headed more this direction:

Zack reminds me of Pornstars who try to make the move into legitimate acting. You can tell he genuinely loves comics and wants to focus on creating better stories but all his fans want is Zack having screaming fits at S-J-W-s, ripping up comics and throwing them across the room, the Richard C Meyer Cumshot

I skimmed his youtube channel and he has released around 60 videos in last 30 or so days ranging from around 5 to 20 minutes. Going by the titles most of them look either repetitive or bland. Just cut half of them and you could do livestream once a week with no time lost. After all, I'm not sure if Hellboy Biden/Harris drawing warrants a 10 minute video response. Its something you could spend 2 minutes talking about in a livestream in a "oh yeah, that happened too" moment.

Reality is that he probably doesn't want to either because he finds it too gay or simply doing random low quality video whenever you feel like doing it is easier on the schedule than doing 2 hours stream once a week.

So... 10% finders fee?
Glad to see some people are actually telling him to pay me. A nice refresher from all the CGers who encouraged him to steal from me.

Will Donal ever put out Brutas? Tomorrow makes 3 weeks since he said "I'm going to ship them out in 2 weeks", so that was clearly a lie. Buying all the shipping on stamps.com and getting them all prepaid for "one trip" to the post office, yet he doesn't know a split yet?

@Fathead is there any update?

You're comparing me to Svengoolie?

Thanks!

It'd be one thing if the videos he's done were quality, but they aren't. His reviews struggle to hit six to ten minutes and there isn't the detail breakdown explaining why something is bad and why its good. For example, Richard reached a point where he'd talk about paneling or about inks and lettering. He doesn't do that very much anymore. The purpose of critique is to point out flaws and to appraise a work of art. The substance has faded, not just the spectacle.

You may be right, but by ceding live-streaming to Frog he's hurt his bottom line and he's damaging his brand by having it tied to Frogs. If your going to take shit for something, better its your own.

The subtle peer pressure of Kiwi Farms!

Anyone tied to Frog wins. Anyone who falls out of my orbit obsesses and cries about Frog for years while they fail at funding and life in general.

Zack doesn't handle that brand of mentally ill stalker well. That's why he doesn't stream. He's attracted quite a few and he's had enough of it. He streams with me on my channel because he can leave at any time and the stalkers are almost entirely aimed at me, and not him.

When he doesn't stream with me, he doesn't do very well. When he does stream with me, he does great.

He tells me he doesn't want me to feel like I'm obligated to help him. Zack isn't a taker like some of these other folks.

But I'm happy to do it because it benefits me as much as it does Zack. I get great content and superchats, he gets funding.

His new book will hit 6 figures if I continue to push it and he does livestreams with me.

* The most curious point is how backers are increasing each campaign, yet also the average backer amount is increasing. I imagine this will either level off at some point or Brian might start losing backers and begin stagnating in terms of backer and funding growth.
He is selling bundles of his previous comics as higher tiers.
New backers would get this and have the entire story.
YBZ is producing more books just to take advantage of bundling and gaining revenue on his back catalogue

More like pointing out the reality of things you have a blindspot to, but okay dude.

Egotist talking points.

Simple Zack realized he can't take punches as well as he throws them out, thus he ended up with a lolsuit, so he needs to hide behind Frog and hopes people continue to donate to his cause despite losing backers in every campaign.

When he doesn't stream with me, he doesn't do very well. When he does stream with me, he does great.

Maybe getting him to say "Hi ComicsGate" will help, don't you think? Zack doesn't even know of other creators, and I assure you most newer people who are going to come in probably don't give a shit about him. Someone who doesn't connect with their own community can only be dragged around like a decoration piece for so long.

But I'm happy to do it because it benefits me as much as it does Zack. I get great content and superchats, he gets funding.

Ah yes. "Zack please do an elevator pitch for your book" - Zack proceeds to ramble incoherently for 5 minutes. Riveting content.

His new book will hit 6 figures if I continue to push it and he does livestreams with me.

Do whatever you need to do to carry Simple Zack like how you carried Vestige and other deadweights. These are the kind of actions that created Liam Gray who wanted nothing but to purity test CG at one point.

I have come to realize that it's futile to try to offer any kind of constructive criticism toward Frog. He is incapable of self-reflection.

"Self reflection" doesn't, and shouldn't follow anonymous internet retards with bizarre conspiracy theories a-logging you while crying.

It's me sitting outside, having a whiskey and cigar, and wondering why everything always goes my way, and why I always win.

The only constructive criticism you're fit to offer me is how to obsess about myself harder and more effectively.

To give a bit of context to Frog’s whole “streaming is everything” stance, his YT has been in complete stagnation for over a year.

While I’m certainly not denying that his streams make him a hell of a lot of money, said money is coming from a pretty stagnant pod of whales. He isn’t growing his audience as much as he is milking the ones that are already there, which can easily be a fool’s gambit when they inevitably start to dry up.

Again, you can just look at comparisons between Impossible Stars and Kamen America V2: IS might have about $2K more at the current moment, but KAV2 has a full 33% more backers in comparison. I don’t exactly know too much about running a crowdfunder, but I’d think that I’d rather have hundreds more people backing my comic instead of the same people backing for a collective 5% more total, just based on word-of-mouth/growth potential alone.

I have 130,000 subscribers on YouTube. That's plenty. It's probably a larger number than there are still people reading Marvel Comics these days.

Comics itself is a stagnating pool. I can only do so much.

KA2's additional backers come from a $5 or $8 Digital PDF tier. Almost 300 backers purchased that.

Zack and I don't offer digital PDF tiers. There's no money in it. Lots of backers, no money.

And sure, eventually I'm sure it'll all dry up. If it does, I'll just have to find another way to sell Frog books, or just retire a millionaire.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, 131K is absolutely nothing to sneeze at... now if you could only get even a fifth of that to actually watch your streams.

How did you arrive at the conclusion that not having a digital copy was worth it? Is it just a sort of rarity/scarcity play, or is there another reason as to why you don’t have them?
