Christ, what more was he supposed to do for Liam?

Ethan only built up Liam so that Liam in turn would serve to boost Ethan's overall brand. The whole point is that Ethan uses people up like a sociopath. He doesn't really care about any of his "friends" in the industry. For every current Sciver-verse associate in good standing, there are like five former associates who have been served up as sacrificial offerings. He has shown to be fully prepared to throw everyone else under the bus rather than take responsibility for his actions: his manipulations behind the scenes, his ideological flip-flops, his blatant hypocrisy.

He's not using anybody, they've all started off as mutually-beneficial. How is it his fault that some of these folks turn out to be nuts? It's really damned if you, damned if you don't with some of you. For months he's attacked for associating with Liam and trying to promote him, now he's attacked for finally cutting him loose.

Yeah, that’s probably it. I do think these guys should figure out a way to set up a permanent store together or something to sell their books after the initial backers get their special editions and such. Or even just throw them up in the vanity book sections of Amazon. If someone wants to buy your product, why only sell it to them every few months or years via a crowdfund campaign when you could be selling it to them 365 days a year instead? Perhaps Zack is slowly coming around to this as he’s been mentioning in his newer videos how he wants to continue selling his older books via bundles in his campaigns, but he’s still fixated on the “campaign” aspect.

I'm trying to get that across to ComicsGaters, who think the only profit is in what's leftover after they've fulfilled their campaign.

Crowdfunding gives you the money to make product, which costs a fraction of what it can be resold for. So overprint your books by at least 25% and make more product, and then build a franchise. When you begin funding the sequel to your book, market the first issue to new customers. That's ALL immediate profit. Like I said, we bring in between $6000-10,000 per month on eBay on CyberFrog books and merch. That's where real, bankable money is.

There was a time that the people from the industry and their orbiters (think gail simone and tim doyle) were kvetching about CG daring to charge $25 for a ~48pg product. Pretty sure it was around the time that @FROG's first campaign was finishing and they all suddenly broke silence to bitch about it.

Edit: Haven't seen anybody mention it here, Turns out telling people they can't have feelings about 9/11 while writing GI Joe wasn't the smartest idea.

Also it's been mentioned in his thread but it's worth mentioning here, Kwanzer managed to option Black to Warner Bros.

Good for Aubrey. That's a really smart tweet.

What did I get out of "building Liam up," exactly? Where did I profit from that?

Where did I sacrifice Liam? All I said was that I disavow his actions in getting his critics struck down, and that he was a retard. Which he is, and I mean it affectionately.

But then again, Liam sees striking down SWC as fighting back against his bullies, not critics, and I can't really argue that point.

I do as well, if not better, on my own as I do surrounded by other creators. I will help them if they don't cause problems. If they don't cause problems, they'll make money with me. If they do cause problems, they'll get a humbling lesson really quickly.

Will Kwanzer's series flop like Mags' sci-fi series?

Yes, but it's perfect studio bait for this exact moment in history, so I'm not at all surprised that it got snatched up for a film.

It's what Warner Brothers wants people to think they believe people want.

CYBERFROG WARTS AND ALL hits $315,000 on DAY FOUR!

I wasn't expecting it to earn this much in the entire 60 days. I think we're looking at another $500K campaign. Wow!

Since we're all 100% all about GREAT comics and not just some tribal political stuff, I just want to mention that for October, we're going to be doing a Halloween discussion of my favorite comic of all time, Rachel Rising by Terry Moore.

download.jpg

Rachel Rising is one of the most interesting horror stories out there, a pure lesson in both quality writing and art. Cap'n Cummings and I will be discussing this 42-issue series across four streams starting Oct 7th on my youtube channel.

Stream 1 Oct 7th: TPBs 1-2 (issues 1-12)
Stream 2 Oct 14th: TPBS 3-4
Stream 3 Oct 21st: TPBS 5-6
Stream 4 Oct 28th: TPB 7

They're available anywhere as trades, an omnibus, or digitally on ComiXology for folk who want to grab the books and read along with us to join in on the fun.

Love this comic so much. Met Terry a few times, he's great.

It's cross-promotion of Amphi-Comicsgate, but you know that. You have always had the benefit of associating with other acts, most notably YBZ. Even though you remain the biggest name in the mix, your entire YouTube career was largely derived from the template established previously. You needed to see Zack's success and secure Nick Barucci's support first before you went all in.

You "affectionately" call Liam a retard and lovingly "disavow" him. You keep playing him. It's enough to disassociate him from Sciververse, but you cling to the corpse of his reputation when you get criticized for your own manipulative behavior. The consummate hustler will always attempt to change the meaning of words in the middle of being called on the carpetbagging. You don't stand for anything, your characters don't stand for anything except for feeding your audience regurgitated third-rate outdated pop culture... and an infinite supply of social media drama. You're a carnival barker in your own circus. Freaks come and go, but only you get to wear the top hat.

Just saw Yaboi's video on it.

Out of all the anti-CGers and general pieces of shit who think making funny books gives them high value in society, Aubrey was not my first pick of getting a clue (he was already irrelevant). It's nice he had the balls to admit it but he'll never work in industry comics again, wuflu or no. He lost but he didn't lose the lesson. Unless he's trying to get on the good side of comic buyers for whatever he keeps counting down on his twitter.

No point hoping Kwanzer's race-hustle from book to screen will fail. Anything by that negro is destined to fail. 🚬

That's not how the acronym rules work Ethan!

Well at least his message might keep some future person from fucking up their career with stupidity, and he at least seems to get that isn't even his politics themselves that were the issue, but the being a complete asshole about them part.
