Community Happenings Thread - My God, It's full of Tards

I really like the Community Happening feed. It brings me news of interesting events in threads I don't frequent, and other cow happenings that don't quite meet the criteria for the highlights section.

But right now it's almost unreadable because it's full of a variety of tards tarding it up:

- People who want to discuss or argue about the happening in the happenings thread rather than the thread the happening was in.
- People who think that news stories or even the release of new videogames count as a "happening"
- People who don't even link to the happening they're talking about
- A&H people spilling over and sperging about politics
- Attention-seekers actively trying to shit it up because it's a thread a lot of people read
- Right now there's some schizo in there who thinks their conspiracy theories are happenings too

It's very hard to deal with these people because arguing with them just shits up the thread further, and trolls and schizos don't care about negrates, despite @Troonos waging a valiant one-troon negrate campaign against the threadshitters.

I'd like to get admin's view as to whether they're happy with how it's going and if it needs to be fixed. I also wonder if it's clear enough what the thread is for. I had always assumed that "happenings" were cow-related developments only, or at least news that came from within the site and its threads, but clearly not everyone thinks that. I certainly think that's what it should be for personally.

Assuming we're unhappy with the state of it, my proposal would be to instigate a rule that your post must include a link to a Kiwifarms post or get threadbanned, but I don't know if that's practical.

The first post saying "feel free to share your own happenings here" gives people a lot of leeway to post whatever they want, whether intentional or not. Maybe Null can edit to op to be clearer...?

Rarely do people use the thread to actually share happenings. More often than not features are made for two reasons:

1. Some fag @'s me.
2. I, or a moderator, feature it directly.

So I edit OP and say "don't post unless it's good". Chances are people with decent content will say "oh my content isn't good enough" and not post. Retarded shit spigots will mindlessly demand features for irrelevant shit that doesn't appeal to anyone outside their niche.

This is just sort of a continuation of the community hygiene problem where people can't moderate themselves and people feel that we need like trained police to help out.

Thanks for the support, ol' buddy ol' friend. I just wish replies to happenings mentioned in that thread would be made in existing threads about the topic, or that people wanting to reply and discuss it would start a new thread. People follow that thread to get notifications of actual happenings, and it's pretty fucking annoying to get a notification that's just for 30 replies of "YA UR RITE" or retarded political debate that obviously belongs elsewhere.

The Happenings feed would work better if each post had an expandable comments section so people can safely reeee under individual posts without clogging up the thread. Probably not possible in xenforo.

Maybe one day, sneedforo. Maybe one day.

Really not a fan of the Articles & News or Happenings board topics in the Community Happenings thread, it kind of ruined the last one we had. If it starts taking over the Community Happenings thread again could something be done about it?

I agree , I get its the news but thats more mainstream than what usually gets featured on the site, and then the lurkers or people without accounts cant look at it, becauise its in A&H.

It is. Perhaps it's the most traded society to have ever existed. The smartest people from the smartest generation are the tards of this nation. And perhaps the dumbest generation is the one before them. However, It's only a matter of time before the dummies inherit the Earth.
