A shame, i heard the gameplay was pretty good but the playerbase just wasn't there.
Worse still is that the monetization scheme in and of itself was pretty good, instead of endless micro transactions it was an upfront purchase.
Oh well.

8 years oc development and $200 million. The developers were ex Bungie and Activision.

Most of the time F2P reworks dont shut the entire game down, they offer a bunch of shit to people who paid for the game and then patch in the F2p shit.

Not saying it wont happen but its clear that the whole thing is a disaster and Sony may really try to write it off.
 
I would be shocked if this comes back as a F2P game, Sony got to be taking a page out of David Zaslav's book and making this a tax write off.

Only question is what happens to the devs, for some reason Sony thought it was a good idea to buy the devs before the game came out.
 
As funny as this is, I wish they would have fallen flat on their face sooner. Where Concord's DEI slop was just stupid looking and kind of funny, Dustborn is offensively bad. I feel like this is stealing that thunder.

Oh well, beggars can't be choosers!
 
Was there any real attempt to market this? I've never heard of it before and absolutely none of my gaming friends have ever mentioned it.

It's crazy that so much money and development time were spent just for a product to be entirely dead on arrival. At least people get a full refund, but I'd guess they're trying to avoid lawsuits?
 
When I saw this featured on MATI, I had joined mid-bit and I honestly thought it was an elaborate shitpost made by a kiwi and AI that Null was looking over. When I realized it was a real game, I couldn't believe it wasn't satire.
 
Cannot wait for the sneed, seethe, and cope.

I’m sure they will blame everyone but themselves for making a shit game.
