Yeah, aside from preserving the gains the Executive branch made while he was president, Lincoln was pretty "live and let live" about reconstruction. He was a pragmatist about it, first and foremost.
Killing him let the proper moral absolutists in New England drag their nuts allllll over the South.

The problem is that it only takes about 20-25% for a city to enter a death spiral. The 20x violent crime rate is a nuisance at single-digit population, but once you're at 25-50% the chaos gets undeniable, and you either arrest them nonstop or get caught in a Prog cycle of de-criminalizing every destructive behavior to avoid muh disparate impact.

It also only takes about 1/4 the population to end up with 100% africanized/corrupt government, because 100% of them will vote for the african candidate, and so will 30-50% of the whites (depending on Shitlib proportions).

Best case, they're balanced by an equal or greater share of mexicans, who will demand their own favorable restricting, so your 30% black/30% mexican city government will just be nonstop lefty infighting between black and mexican group interests, while a few white Progs promise both sides more gibs.
