Hell, even if it was the president, there's no legal or moral obligation to tell the whole public about your personal life just because you yourself are a public figure. I'm sure their close friends and family are aware, and that should've been enough to "Get it off [your] chest". Most of the general public thinks they're married? Who cares? Announcing it over Twitter in such a vague manner while leaving a popular Youtuber is a terrible way to handle this.
