Crab Search and Rehome

Alrighty so this is a message for all people who own hermit crabs or know someone who does own hermit crabs. If you own a hermit crab or crabs and you live in the states and your crab(s) need a new home look no further. I will pay you to ship your crabs to New York states and from there they will be legally brought over the border to canada and will be given happy homes. The crab parents are meyself and some other chick I kow. All crabitat conditions will under the watchful eye of me and I can give the crab's owner updates on the crabs whenever they wish.

Where I'm from, we call them Soldier Crabs, and they are a lot more common at the beaches and around marshy areas. Some of us paint the shells and do races with them (the track is a circular table, whichever gets to the edge first wins). Since Soldier Crabs are wimps, if you approach and bend down to one, it'll retreat into its shell.What I enjoy doing is taking a small twig or a pine needle, and pushing it between its pincer. It then grips the stick thinking someone's attacking it!

Really though, Soldier Crabs are the shit. Everyone loves them, they're fun to search for.

I think painting their shells is disrespectful to the crabs as well as dangerous. The paint chips off and they can ingest it or it can come off when they go in the water to refill their water supply in their shells and they can ingest it that way, either way it's a danger to the crabs. They also don't paint the shells when the crab is in there. The crabs have to be forced into the painted shells by removing them from their regular shells and placing them in the painted ones. This is incedibly stressful for the crab and stress very well may kill them.
Painted shells also make them look like a fun pet for children, when they are most certainly not suited for a child's pet at all, they need proper humidity and temperture to survive and need a tank (not a chicken wire cage or plastic critter keeper) to keep their suitable conditions. Many parents buy them for their kids at the beach and they end up dying within a few months or even just one month when in reality crabs can live up to thirty years in captivity because people don't do research about them and think they are throw away pets.
