Ever heard of the news story about that one guy that had 1,497 credit cards and had over $1.7 million in credit? It's hard to believe but there are people who are crazy enough to want to turn securing lines of credit into a game, a game to see how many lenders they can get themselves with and much more.

Now that the context has been established for the thread, I'd like to talk about several of these credit card forums that encourage and cheer on this kind of lunacy.
If you have credit yourself, you have probably checked your FICO score at some point, which indicates how much credit risk you have. The higher the score, the better your chances are to secure lines of credit at decent interest rates. Well, there's a forum that is closely associated with the company that publishes these FICO scores.
Welcome to the MyFico forums. You would think that a website like this would emphasize financial responsibility and keeping your credit in check, but this website is teeming with people that are addicted to amassing all sorts of credit to boost the size of their e-peens.

It gets pretty competitive and I can name several examples of the types of people that populate forums like this.
Check out a user by the name of CreditAddict. He regularly makes all sorts of threads about what new store cards he constantly gets and how many times he's failed to get back in with a lender cause of his past bankruptcies. He's certainly a prolific piece of work and seeing him post about his ongoing daily quest to try to be the new Ron1, another prolific credit card collector, is amusing at best. He once posted about how he'd charge people for his "services" on how to take care of their own credit.
Many of his posts are along the lines of what you're gonna see in this comment. There's a common pattern to his behavior. When he doesn't get in with a lender, he whines about it and tries to call their reconsideration offices and then whines some more when he doesn't get his way.

This was the guy that CreditAddict wanted to emulate. He hasn't posted in a few months but all of his threads were about what obscure store cards he'd somehow get approved for.
The powerword of the user below him is Laura Mullins if you are curious. She's also another piece of work on that site. There are several of these people that use the same username everywhere of course, like in the case of a user named jsucool76.
He's a lot younger than these other users but has been heavily involved in the whole collecting credit cards for travel and hotel rewards game. I saw his picture one time and not surprisingly, he looked just like you'd expect someone like this to be.

MyFico has even had its fair share of weird staff members. 09Lexie had to be one of the most prominent when she was posting. She was the butt of jokes on other websites that made fun of MyFico and people would joke about how much of a dominatrix she was. Her powerword is also out there.
Then you had trolls like FixMyCredit1992 that would often make hilarious posts like this on not only MyFico but another credit website called Credit Boards that pretty much hates that site.

If you can find the thread where CreditAddict tells FixMyCredit1992 to stop applying for credit and racking up hard inquiries, that one itself is a riot. I've been trying to find it but in the meantime, here's a little sample of the kind of bitching that he'd do.
Nixon was another big sperg on that site that amassed over 16,000 posts on that site in just six months and would constantly talk about "the wife" in many of his posts. He got the banhammer of course but before, the staff seemed very lenient with him encouraging others to take out cash advances and claimed that he did it himself to go gambling in Vegas. I'm not even sure if he was for real or just a really big troll, but I'll leave a link to his banned profile too so you can take a look at his posts for yourself.

There was a lot to cover in this thread but one of the other big things that MyFico loves to preach is their love of "gardening." It's a term that they use to refer to not applying for any credit cards for a while and to not acquire hard inquiries on your report. Every month they have a whole thread and a bunch of losers post in it, acting like they aren't applying for much when they still are whenever the new hot card flavor pops up.
It has been jokingly called the Garden Cult on other sites, but here's their current gardening thread.

Take a drink every time someone in this thread claims they aren't going to apply for more credit but they go ahead and do it anyway and how about those e-peens you get just by having some icon on your signature or as they call "siggy" over there.
There are some other sites worth looking at for content.
Credit Boards has been around longer than MyFico but they like to bitch a lot about how much MyFico sucks while their board culture is much more about trying to manufacture spend for credit card rewards and teaching people all sorts of "unconventional" methods of amassing more rewards points.
https://creditboards.com/forums/
Sometimes you will see people on this site panic even at the very sight of someone mentioning the specific names of how they are able to amass all these credit card rewards.
FlyerTalk I'd also have to say is sort of an influence on this kind of thing too, but MyFico is still where you'll find most of the really funny stuff.

The scope of this topic is so great that you can even talk about bloggers like this that openly brag about how much they like to apply for tons of rewards credit cards every month.
