It's a shame that The Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith really are great sifters. Everyone either actually investigates or become total retards/fags, including in this thread.

Not that anyone on KF could critique the theology or the KFS on theological grounds (because it *is* innovative even by today's standards).
What do you think of the theory that the Book of Mormon is from Africa?

Never heard of that theory and neither has the average LDS person.
The Reformed Egyptian being from an Egypt-adjacent place makes sense for one thing, & Ethiopia is the only place I can think of for a Lehite migration to have wound up, as there is a Jewish community to this day in Beta Israel. Also, Ethiopia was very much cut off from the rest of the world, originating the "Prester John" myth.

The reformed Egyptian comes from the fact that Egypt was a major power and had dealings with Ancient Israel in the time of King Hezekiah. Lehi was taught writing/reading in reformed Egyptian:
For it were not possible that our father, Lehi, could have remembered all these things, to have taught them to his children, except it were for the help of these plates; for he having been taught in the language of the Egyptians therefore he could read these engravings, and teach them to his children, that thereby they could teach them to their children, and so fulfilling the commandments of God, even down to this present time. (Mosiah 1:4)

It's also historically (not that this matters, Moroni 10:3-5 dispute the need for historicity imo) plausible that they did make it to the Americas i.e Kon Tiki Expedition. It's also worthy to note that according to 3 Nephi, chapters 9-11, show that the lands of the Nephites/Lamanites in the Americas was altered by the coming of Jesus Christ.

Surprised there is no mention of the mountain Meadows massacre. To make a long story short Mormons killed a bunch of travelers going through Utah on their way to California more or less because they weren't Mormons. To heighten their crime by tacit admission is wrongdoing they tried to make it look like Indians did it. The incident led to the American government declaring war on the church itself.
