Anyone feeling nostalgia for the olden days of the internet? Like 2000-2010 era, shit id even take 2011-2015 before everything got so pozzed everywhere.

I miss the days when internet culture was still new and not as influenced and intermingled with mainstream as it is now. Same with gaming, comics, movies, etc. Sometime i do feel like i should just take a hammer to my computer and go get lost in the wilderness and not come back until civilization has crumbled upon itself. Anybody else feels like they are in a crazy dream world right now and just want to wakeup?

Everything is interconnected... and it sucks.

As you pointed out, the internet, comics, movies, books, etc. all are connected and being influenced. I personally think a lot of it is politics ruining shit, as it now seeps into everything including entertainment. That and the fact you can now be fucked over by something you said 20 years ago.

I often think how nice it would be to just disconnect and just live a simpler life. I know they have done studies and found people who live primitively (think tribe in amazon or Africa) is like 10x happier than someone in the modern world. We just never were meant to have so much shit constantly bombarding us

I want to go back to 2016 era Internet. Everything felt so fun, like you could say and do things without having to worry about one errant comment being used to destroy your life. You could say and do edgy things and people got that you were joking, and not actually being evil. I just want nuance and fun to come back. Is that too much to ask? (:_(

HTML5 was the beginning of the end of old internet. Anyone with nostalgia for the post-2012 'net is a faggot. I want to wake up in the timeline where everyone listened to Tim Berners-Lee and we all began using XHTML

I remember seeing this fat guy with a beard* working in a drive-thru, wearing this bulky headset with bright blue light.

That scene was like an illustration of what's wrong with the modern world, which is becoming increasingly Borg-like.

*(he kind of looked like Dobson the inflation fetish guy)

I feel like I'm going to wake up and be 17 again. I remember I was hanging out with a group and I made an offensive joke, someone got triggered, and before I could say anything the hot girl said I was funny and went on a tirade defending me. Around when I was 18/19 things got to the point where I have to consider that my life is a coma or fever dream because people know too much about me and it's the least weird explanation.

Honestly it took me a long time for me to join, even though I've lurked for over 3 years or so now. I like many others miss being able to say what I want without risking a banning (at best) or being cancelled (at worst).
We can all laugh, say nigger and faggot, make jokes but the old internet I grew up with is dead and gone, and this place is a small piece of my rapidly degrading memories. Memories of when the net was wild and endless, and not controlled by Global-homo.
Sorry for the shmaltzy fagshit.
