I unironically think photo face filters have a non-insignificant contribution to people trooning out. They see these posts of themselves and others filtered to hell and it presents this fake world that feeds into delusions. Every phone now does some sort of face smoothing that just looks unnatural.

Disregarding the fact that men are much more likely to be the victims of assault or murder in the US, let us reframe these questions based not on sex discrimination, but racial discrimination.

White people how would you act if all blacks had a 9 PM curfew in the US? How much more would you go to your downtown areas? Or let me ask my French brothers, who helped us secure liberty in the US, how would you act if all immigrants had a 9 PM curfew in Marseille?

This is a really familiar style of writing, though. This is what social justice, "((hugs)) if you want them" people write like. Deference to someone above them on the scale, cartoonish sympathy, dialogue that reads like lines from a TV special made to teach autists how social interactions work. It's the sound of someone walking on eggshells, but proud of how good they are at it.

It sounds completely fake, like there's someone playing a con beneath it, but I've gotten my hopes up before.

The replies RE: Jeff Muscato are interesting. Dave's been tagging Jeff in his Facebook posts (i.e., '[Dave] is with Jeff Muscato'), which is what the person was asking about -- 'hey, who is this person? do you at least have Jeff for support?'

Clearly, Dave does not. Why then is he tagging Jeff, who barely engages with Facebook, may not know he's been tagged, and if Dr. Joe really is the evil parent from a 1970s made-for-television film, wouldn't risk his own position to hang out with Dave? As I recall, Dave complained about Jeff not allowing him to (indefinitely) stay with him.

If, on the other hand, Jeff HAS reached out to Dave to support him in some small way -- say, an occasional meal out -- Dave is (once again) showing his ingratitude. I could see it going either way.

Looking forward to August, to see if he actually moves and if so, what poor fool takes him in.
