Daylight saving time hate thread.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I'm relatively certain that it was abolished once, and then brought back shortly thereafter because too many people complained about having to do shit in the darkness.

If we do abolish it again, I hope it sticks. I'm tired of this jumping back-and-forth nonsense.

Umm, actually it's based on an ancient pagan celebration. Every spring the ancient pagans would set their digital clocks forward to steal an hour from the gods as a ransom to ensure the crops did well. After a bountiful harvest they would set their watches back an hour to return the hour to their gods. It's in the Bible.

It needs to end because it's totally useless. I thought Trump was going to get rid of it.

Daylight savings time was created at a time when people still worked during the day and stopped working at night. It's not the early 20th century anymore. We have had night shifts for decades. People don't just go to bed when it gets dark anymore.

I want summer time the whole year. Don't care if it's light or dark in the morning, but it would be nice to have a sunset at 17 instead of 16.

It's called a sundial. The Romans had them everywhere and treated an hour as a different length of time in different seasons.

The government trying to control time just to make their cattle work more. There really is no limit to how much they're trying to control.

Farmers opposed Daylight Savings when it was initially proposed and still do.

The reason we have Daylight Savings is because during ww1 the US wanted to conserve coal. It was continued because middle class workers liked commuting to work when the sun was out.

Farmers base their schedule around the animals and crops. Cows and Chickens do not recognize Daylight Savings and the mixup actually makes it harder to farm. Farm laborers commutes are messed up and the changing of delivery truck pickups messes with their schedules.

Daylights saving is fucking gay, but we are back on the objectively best schedule for now, and I worked 1 less hour today so I'm in a good mood.
