🐱 Disney Parks Entangled In Possible Felony After Engaging in "Cultural Appropriation"

CatParty

As Disney continues to find itself on an island surrounded by the waters of controversy, another storm of backlash may already be brewing.

Everyone knows that a long day at the Disney Parks is better than a short day at work. But you can only walk around Main Street, U.S.A., or Tomorrowland so much until it becomes unbearable to take another step.

Here’s where Disney’s newest experience comes in. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at Disneyland Resort now hosts the Tenaya Stone Spa, which is a beautiful space for those looking to relax and unwind after a long day in Disneyland. But recently, the integrity of this new spa has been put into question with one reporter getting a “something is very wrong here” feeling from it.

The Tenaya Stone Spa, which spans a whopping 6,000 square feet officially opened on September 16, 2021, and offers jaw-dropping details and amenities.

However, in a clear, concise, and highly critical report from Deanne Revel at Fodor’s, the origins of a supposedly sacred rock are in question along with ethical decisions made by Disney. If certain claims are true, Disney could possibly face some serious consequences. The specifics of the controversy involve when, where, and how the stone, which lays at the center of the spa, was acquired.

The report is filled to the brim with nothing but respect for indigenous people groups and outlines details regarding the stone and culture surrounding it. Upon reading the report further, Disney may have even committed a felony by including the Tenaya Stone that stands at the center. As stated in the report, to the Miwuk tribal members from which the stone originates, the real issue goes beyond cultural appropriation and leans more toward “cultural theft”.

It should be incredibly apparent that The Walt Disney Company is already dealing with multiple controversies with its stance on Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill being highly criticized. Disney also recently faced backlash after a cheer group performed an incredibly racist and offensive showat Walt Disney World.

Interestingly enough, when asked if any proceeds from the spa would go back to Indigenous people as a way to “make up” for the missing stone, Disney didn’t answer.

Needless to say, the last thing Disney needs is more controversy, but as shown in the report from Revel, it looks like we may be on the eve of another big story breaking. Be sure to check out the incredibly-well written report here.

Hates to be on Disney side but if they were gifted the stone (as the report say), they own it. And they can do whatever they want with it. Your sacred injuns go cry some more
The claim is they were gifted the stone but the tribe involved are saying they don't go blessing rocks. That said, while reading through the article (it's not a report, it's a fucking article), I did notice WHY this is considered a felony.

If this stone was taken from Lake Tenaya, that’s a federal crime, as Lake Tenaya is well within the borders of Yosemite National Park.
Couldn't find anything on this but I imagine since it is a federally protected land then there's a chance that yea, taking a rock out of the park is a big nono. I mean the natives can't go foraging in there, what makes Disney think they can take a big ass rock?

Its a fucking rock.

a fucking rock.jpg

But don't worry, Disneyland has a land acknowledgment sign, showing people that live peacefully, never ever went to war and killed each other, and in no way would have exploited the land if they had developed industrialization on their own.

Also here's an archive link to the stupidly woke article they are quoting, just in case you hate yourself (why else are you on this part of the site?)

I swear this is just Disney trying to drum up controversy in hopes the stunt will get asses into the seats of their declining parks. I've heard from multiple people that the Disney parks have really gone downhill the last couple years, even pre-pandemic. I've also heard people say that you'll have a better time for less money at the Universal parks if that's your thing.

Yes, its a totally real magic rock from native lands and not just a bunch of crudely assembled stones stuck in the lobby with a bullshit backstory to make the dumb white women who go to spas feel special.

Also, while you're charging Disney with felonies for stacking rocks, you should also check into the Tiki Room. I heard there are some endangered birds in there I'm pretty sure Disney didn't have the permits to import.

I've heard that the clientele, both the kind that shows up and the kind Disney is trying to attract, has skewed away from Mom N' Dad families and manchildren who just want to ride the rides towards middle-aged cat ladies and Karens who are looking to "finally" be treated like the Princess they know they are at $5,000 -a-day resorts that they can afford, and aren't impressed by the pivot towards Star Wars and want those loud kids swept off the streets so they can drink overpriced boxed wine at the Disney Spa in peace and quiet.

Apparently, one reason prices keep going up is that the former group is being chased off by the latter.

1. That rock isn't granite and is unlikely to have come from anywhere near Tenaya Lake, inside or outside the park.

2. Chief Tenaya has descendants in a lot of tribes, so it doesn't make sense to just ask the dipshit Miwuk but not confer with the other Miwok, as well as the Paiutes, the Monos, the Yokuts, and the Washoes as affected. Obviously Disney went with the ones who would go along with their dumb story or they didn't ask anyone at all (which is more likely given that the rock probably came from the lot the spa sits on).

3. The spa's whole color/direction theme that "honors nature like Native Americans" is based off the medicine wheel, which is New Age faux Pan-Indian bullshit made up by a German immigrant who pretended to be a Cheyenne shaman.

Oh look, another holy rock worshiped by savages who now want money for their holy rock they totally worshipped for centuries.

What a fucking surprise.

Look, Disney, just go to some random fucking rez with a big fucking rock on a flatbed, pay some old rez rat with four teeth a couple packs of smokes and a bottle of whiskey to wear a fucking costume and yell some shit he just made up at the rock, then you can haul it back and claim whatever the fuck you want.

It's about as authentic as anything else.

And let's not forget then Disneyland isn't spared from brawls like the ones who happen in various McDo's, Popeye's, KFC, etc...

I'm surprised a writer for insidethemagic wrote this. Millenial women will visit those every day and not get bored.

This is exactly what is happening. You can see the change in demographics by going to the parks and by seeing who is posting Disney media. Look at the writers for Disney-oriented outlets. It used to be mothers with enough money to go to the parks with kids and autistic fans, now its millenial women and older women who are "retired".

Who writes this garbage?

This is from a Disney fan site. So if you’re posting on there, you’re either a huge fan, or you’re a disgruntled ex-employee. Either way, you have to have at least a beyond cursory knowledge of Disney and know that their legal team rivals that of a small nation state. There is no way in hell the Disney team did not obtain the stones in a legitimate way, or in a way that would absolve Disney of liability (or shift it onto contractors). Other then seeming to imply that stacking some stones together is a crime against Native Americans, the author seems to be chomping at the bit for Disney to fail. Which again, why are you posting on a Disney fan site?

I fucking hate Disney. But the only thing I hate worse than Disney is Disney obsessives.

Reading the headline, I thought given their recent aggressive forays into sexualizing kids, that they’d been accused of appropriating Islamic culture.
