Are you one of those people who follows game designers/musicians/devs? Or are you more interested in the final product? Or are you more like a sports fan, where you think the team is more important than the individual players?
If you do follow people, are you more likely to follow major names or are you more likely to follow smaller devs? And will you seek out older games by a dev you like now?
I’m one of those people for whom the information just sort of sticks, so when I used to follow games more, I tended to just kind of pick this stuff up. Nowadays, I find myself caring less. If I find a game on Steam that I like I‘ll occasionally go through the company’s bio on Steam to see if I can sort of see a through-line (it makes a lot of sense that the guys who made Satisfactory also made Sanctum), and I still have a few devs I track (Zachtronics, Michael Brough, Tom Francis) because I tend to enjoy everything they make. But for the most part, I think I’ve stopped. That said, when I do have the info, and I know someone likes a certain dev, I like being able to tell them about other projects that person’s worked on in case they want to find them.
