If so, what games do yo have? If you don't own one, what is your opinion on the Wii U?

I don't own one, but a close friend of mine has it so I've played on it quite a bit. It's pretty dang fun.

I kind of see what Nintendo where trying to do with the Wii-u, but they really seem to have dropped the ball with it. First of all, nobody seems to know what it is, what it does, or when it came out. Back when the Wii came out, our shop absolutely could not keep them in stock, they flew out the door the second they came in. With the Wii-u, I don't think we've sold a single one.

It's also far too expensive for what you're actually getting. This is because Nintendo focus on selling hardware at a profit, where as Sony and Microsoft sell consoles at a significant loss to profit on software sales. Nobody's prepared to pay £350 for a console that doesn't offer a significant graphical increase over other machines that have been out for over 6 years now.

I love games, and by that I mean all sorts of games, so I'd genuinely like to have a Wii-u, but I can't justify spending the asking price for one of them.

Wii-U is the only next gen console today that really have potential. $350 is actually a good price considering the libraries of the console in the future.

Here's the thing. I'm kinda interested in getting a Wii-U, but I'm not going to get one until a bunch of good either Nintendo games or exclusives come out on it. Nintendoland (which is more or less the Wii Sports of the system) and New Super Mario Bros. U are the only actual 1st-party titles on the Wii-U, and overall there are only 6 exclusives which aren't shovelware. New Super Mario Bros. U and ZombiU aren't even close to enough to sell the system for my brother and I, we're going to wait until there's actually more exclusives to get.

The other main issue I see with it is going to be the same as with when the Wii came out. The Wii-U is the graphical update Nintendo should have had 6 or 7 years ago and seems to be fairly close to what the Xbox 360 and PS3 have for graphics performance. This wouldn't be an issue and is a major improvement when comparing between the Wii and Wii-U, but this is going to be a problem when the PS4 and Xbox 720 come out. I know that the Wii did perfectly fine without HD and this argument seems really superficial, but Nintendo's both pushing that they're in HD now and the gamepad plus the system's much more expensive this time around ($250 at launch vs. $350 at launch). Unless, they get really creative with the gimmicks on the touchscreen gamepad and take advantage of 5-player offline multiplayer or something, 'cause I've seen that with New Super Mario Bros. U and that was awesome. The 5-player thing really has potential.

I also say exclusives, because ever since Crysis 1 came out PC ports have been taken a lot more seriously and have put a lot more effort into them. The prime examples I can think of are the DmC reboot and Resident Evil 6. On the PS3 and X360 they run at 720p at 30 FPS, while on any gaming rig (like my laptop) they run at native 1080p at 60 FPS. The point being, if the Wii-U (or Xbox 720 or PS4 for that matter) really only has a bunch of good multiplatform games and the good Nintendo games don't come out until much later in the Wii-U's lifespan, what's stopping me from saving my $350 for a while and just getting the (possibly superior) PC port (Or the possibly superior PS4 version, since my brother and I will probably get one)? This is another serious question I have with the Xbox 720 and PS4 and a reason why the vast majority of Wii games I got were Nintendo games and games like No More Heroes.

I have a Wii U and love it (well, love what few games I've played for it). I do think they needed to advertise it better; I have three cousins who literally have EVERYTHING technology-wise, and they thought that the Wii U was just an expansion for the Wii. So I can't imagine what people who don't have that knowledge believe.

The only reason I bought a Wii U was to play the new installment of Super Smash Bros. They haven't really announced anything yet but I'm seriously looking forward to playing it.

Nintendo have always relied on their strong first party games to sell their systems. Sadly, they've been increasingly letting third party support fall by the wayside.

The thing is if you read up on the technical details of the Wii-u it's actually a bloody nice piece of engineering, least of all the streaming to the gamepad thing.

Might get a Wii U soon due to the upcoming games.

I'll most likely get a Wii-U once games like Bayonetta 2 and the new Smash Bros. game come out.

I will say that some of it's current games like Monster Hunter 3 have intrigued me though.

I have a Wii U.

I barely use it because it's on the porch where it gets really hot.

But I love playing Super Mario World on it. <3
