This is Dopefish.
Before Shrek, before Sonic, before even Cthulhu... Dopefish was love, Dopefish was life (unless you happened to be an adventurer that got eaten by it).
A meme that predates the widespread adoption of the internet, the Dopefish kept popping up in other games, sometimes with the message "Dopefish Lives!"
Since then though, I have not seen much Dopefish. I've heard it pops up in Doom Eternal, but I don't recall where.
Still, one game is not enough.
If you are a game dev, you are now required by law to include Dopefish somewhere!
Especially you Japanese devs, because Dopefish is the bridge that allows east and west to understand each other!
Like seriously imagine how many people would have played the following:
Instead they go with.... Pigs? Who cares about Pigs? No wonder this game was massively criticized at the time! Dopefish = success. Pigs = failure. It's just science folks!
Live the Dopefish.
