2016 formula was perfect, what they needed was more complex level design, more elaborate arenas and better boss fights. Nobody asked for the base gameplay to be re-invented from scratch, and that's where the apples-oranges comparisons lie. You can like both games, but one of them is clearly Doom in name only. This is why I said Eternal needed to be a sidegame or another franchise altogether, they changed too much and for what? To attract a brand new audience? To make the game more enjoyable for speed runners? Serious Sam: The Second Encounter didn't change to a fucking platformer all of a sudden or some other genre, can you imagine the outcry if they tried something retarded like that? While I would have preferred them go for something much more in line with the classic games(levels that wrap around themselves, roaming monsters, fewer strictly linear maps), I think Eternal is the best they could have done while sticking to the arena formula of 2016. Due to console limitations, it's understandable why they did not go for the classic approach.
I wasn't particularly wowed by 2016 back when it released, and I can see why someone wouldn't care for Eternal as much, but it felt like a more refined version of 2016 that better knew what kind of game it wanted to be. DLCs included.
Are you still seething because I made fun of you for having 1420 hours in Oblivion, like that was something to be proud of? Grow the fuck up, I thought poles were supposed to be le based and not cry like whipped dogs the moment they encounter any amount of pushback. Hope you got at least as many hours in the new demaster with how you were shilling it when it came out.can i enter a single fucking vidya thread without seeing this goddamn sperg chimp shitting it up
PRETTY PLEASE
What the fuck are you talking about, Ultrakill came out in 2016 and Doom Eternal pretty much just ripped that game off completely. Sounds like you are the tourist who can't even read, since I mentioned that in one of my posts. I guess all you can do is seethe impotently and whatever I say will go right over your head, made the right call in not trying to argue with you seriously. It annoys me how Eternal became the template for boomer shooters because it's easier to balance a dash mechanic than normal movement.
Those two are on my backlog, and yeah, they do look good and ironically enough, they play a lot more like I would expect a Doom game to. I can't say if they're better since I haven't played them, but honestly, wouldn't be surprised. Shadow Warrior 2 looks better than 3, at least to me.I'm surprised he hasn't latched onto Shadow Warrior 3 as being superior to Eternal.
what the unshaven fuck are you talking about you blown out homosexualReddit nigger lover spotted.

Oh you meant Shadow Warrior reboot is better than TNO and old blood. I thought you talked about Wolfenstein 2, my bad, I misunderstood, will delete.what the unshaven fuck are you talking about you blown out homosexual
At this point I would rather argue which Wolfenstein was better(or worse) than argue with the same couple of low IQ reddit retards over if Eternal is a good Doom game or not(it's not).Oh you meant Shadow Warrior reboot is better than TNO and old blood. I thought you talked about Wolfenstein 2, my bad, I misunderstood, will delete.
I dunno about modding, but I do remember that online for Eternal flopped due to poor connection issues, the invasive DRM and the whole Bethesda account bullshit. I might be wrong, but I do remember the online for that game being mocked shortly after release. Is there any info/estimation on when they will add Master Levels to Doom TDA? I did some checking but can't find anything concrete.
One other thing, was modding as dead for Eternal in the first months after release as it is for TDA? It's mostly nothing but reskins and retarded reshade mods.
Didn't master levels for Doom Eternal come out after the dlc? the last DE master level came out a few months before TDA.They'd probably do the dlc first. Is there any info/estimation on when they will add Master Levels to Doom TDA? I did some checking but can't find anything concrete.
Modding for Eternal was mostly for all the skillfags to dunk on each other. IDK how "alive" or "dead" it was at any particular time; but I know it only spiked after Ancient Gods 1. Its mostly all the DE equivalent of slaughter maps. One other thing, was modding as dead for Eternal in the first months after release as it is for TDA? idk about drm, but 16 had the other two, and some """people""" really liked the 2016 multiplayer.at online for Eternal flopped due to poor connection issues, the invasive DRM and the whole Bethesda account bullshit
That's part of the fun of doom. Getting lost in the mazes and a pinky jump scaring you.ive been playing the first doom and its great. i beat the first episode a few years ago but i never did the other 3. only complaint i have is that the maps get fucking confusing sometimes i ran around e3m6 for like 15-20 minutes before i found the secret exit i couldnt even find the main one
i guess but i could not shake the feeling it was a extra map for Qu4ke once you played it, sure they use the same engine but doom3 is 1 year older.Doom 3 has that honor
I wouldn’t go that far. 1 is really good and people forget about it, 2 is too Bordlands-esque for its own good and is shit for it, and I never finished 3 but liked what I played.Hot take, the OG SW reboot from what, 2013 or 2014 is unironically better than Eternal. 2 and 3 can fuck right off though.
Shadow Warrior was a bit of a tragedy. Like you said, the first is quite good and still holds up imo. Then they got a taste for trend chasing and the rest was history. For me at least, the reused tilesets of 2 and at times frustrating elite affixes were more of an impediment to enjoying myself the constant micromanaging of guns and the little gem things. Eventually I think I said fuck it and cheated in a million orbs of masamune to put an end to the grind.I wouldn’t go that far. 1 is really good and people forget about it, 2 is too Bordlands-esque for its own good and is shit for it, and I never finished 3 but liked what I played.
Not really, there are still ways the game forces you out in the open. You can tell that Dark Ages is slop because DSP accidentally discovered the best strategy while streaming it.
Stand with your back against a wall so enemies can't get or spawn behind you and parry everything.
Wowie zowie what compelling gameplay!
Still better than the jumping jack ballet in Eternal. Give me a game I can cheese easily over a game that gets so much up it's own ass that there is usually only one or two effective ways to finish a gunfight any day of the week. You wanna know how you make a difficult arena FPS? You give me less health and more enemies to deal with, making for an unforgiving but still a fair fight. You don't force me to spin around like a carousel with one specific weapon to kill a specific enemy, then take a little break and cut menial enemies with a chainsaw to get my 14 shotgun shells and 8 rockets back, rinse and repeat. You can tell that Dark Ages is slop because DSP accidentally discovered the best strategy while streaming it.

Yea but that doesn't fix the issue where parrying is way too OP and once you get the upgrade for the mace that recharges it quicker the game becomes Skyrim, you will never fire a gun again except maybe the combat shotgun to regain armor. Not really, there are still ways the game forces you out in the open.
No? The game never forces you to do it since every strategy is viable. you can run and gun the whole time and only parry the boss enemies like the cybies and you'd probably be fine. I know because that's pretty much what I did.Yea but that doesn't fix the issue where parrying is way too OP and once you get the upgrade for the mace that recharges it quicker the game becomes Skyrim, you will never fire a gun again except maybe the combat shotgun to regain armor.
A Doom game that prioritizes melee and makes gunplay feel pointless seems wrong.
Is it anymore pointless and wrong than a Doom game that has turret segments, mech fights and someone's rejected DnD campaign as a "story" in a Doom game? Because all these things are in TDA too. At least parrying and melee fits thematically with the Doomguy becoming a knight or whatever they're going for.A Doom game that prioritizes melee and makes gunplay feel pointless seems wrong.
