The more I play Doom The Dark Ages the less I like it, it's so fucking boring and braindead. I thought I would like it more overtime like I did with Doom Eternal but the difference is that Doom Eternal actually had substance and it felt rewarding to get better at the game. Dark Ages is so hollow, there's so little going on, so little to learn and improve on. This game actually fucking sucks.

I dunno, I think you guys are being a little too harsh. I'll boot up again for a second playthrough now that the new game sheen has worn off but I still really enjoyed it.

not harsh enough, the "most recent" comparison is to doom eternal for fuck's sake.
not even 2016 was this shit and it was more of a "return to roots" than dark ages defense brigade keep claiming it to be.

The numbers really do speak for themselves, alongside the fact that I had to go down to page 3 to find this thread. TDA is officially the least popular nuDoom release and I wouldn't be surprised if a month from now it fell below both 2016 and Eternal.

The problem is the Fun Zone isn't very fun.

Tanking the Green goo and hitting a bunch of stunned enemies with the same hammer attack over and over isn't a rewarding experience compared to Glory Kills and blasting off weak points.

Granted I found Doom Eternal too crazy on Ultra Violence and especially on Nightmare but Doom 2016 is great. Doomguy is powerful but his enemies are still a threat. As for which games of the series I like the most it would be Doom 2. The additional enemies along with the supershotgun are fun. Love all the mods and campaigns to download and play.
 
I'm replaying Doom 2016. It's still a fun, challenging game. I'll likely run through Eternal and its DLCs next (when I have free time). Per the advice of you all I'm going to wait until TDA goes on a major sale before I pick it up.

I remember all throughout Doom Eternal's heyday that guy would make boring videos where he droned on and on about random minute mechanics he would utterly hyperfixate on. He made his bones responding to stupid criticisms of the game but almost every hyperanalytical praise he had for Doom Eternal's mechanics could be refuted with "if you have to explain the joke, it isn't funny."

Mayo is practically the definition of a pseudointellectual retard, so no. He has based far too much of his persona around sucking off Eternal like it was literally handed down from heaven by archangels and coded by Jesus himself, so he can't afford to 180 on the sequel. It's not like anyone with a brain takes him seriously after his fucking retarded takes on DMC where he simply could not admit that he either wasn't good or wasn't having fun and tried to basically redesign the entire combo system into one he'd be good at, anyway.

I stopped following him after his dog shit review of Arkham Knight, which is not only contradictory of what he mentioned before about challenging oneself, but had the nerves to call the game out after not finishing the game.
