This thread is completely dead. Anyone got any new Doom wads that are actually worth playing?
Not that I know of. I was gonna say Evite II but that came out like 2 years ago *sigh*

Only thing I've been keeping up with or hearing about is the DLC for dark ages, supposedly that comes out soon.

I sperged out here a while back because I was disappointed with Dark Ages but after updates I like the game now. Lol.

I heard they upped the weapon swap time, which was my largest issue with the game, how much have they changed?

Overall though, Its for sure the weakest of the three but it has its merits. I think it'll have a similar public opinion to Doom 3 in the future. least talked about and the least liked, but with its own good.

The weapon swap time has been improved which itself went a long way to fixing the game but aside from that there have been hundreds of small changes to weapon and enemy balancing as well as a plethora of combat encounters being reworked that have all added up to make the game quite fun. Every time they release an update they document all their changes on the Slayers Club website if you're curious.

I've been really wanted to replay it recently, but I also figured it just be better to wait for the DLC to come out. Nice to know that it should be a better experience than last time.

The Trenchfoot team have released a new standalone prequel called Butcher's Summit, so you could give that a go. There's also CountryCide, which takes place ever further back in the timeline.

Both are worth a playthrough.

Hedon has received two fairly good fanmade maps, Below The Gaudy Goblin and Shardbreaker.

And as others have said, there's a new Ashes wad out that tells an alternative version of events.

The /vr/ thread introduced me to the Inquisitor series:
At first I wasn't really into the first inquisitor(it's a fairly difficult map at the beginning and it has an untranslated russian talking into a tin can for a microphone) but the more I played it the more I liked it. The rest of the series is supposed to introduce more stuff like rpg/stat elements and whatnot.

Hey Doom-bros, what mod launcher/managers do you use? So far I've just been manually making bat files but I'm thinking maybe I should try out some launcher.
ZDL has been my choice for 10+ years. Not a lot of bells and whistles but gets the job done and allows you to swap source ports easy enough.
I only recently learned about Strife and godDAMN was it an impressive use of build engine!
It's pretty fun. Shame it doesn't have a lot of mods, but having tried to poke at its guts before it's pretty understandable why. The internals are a spaghettified mess and has a lot of ACS dependencies that are very easy to break.

I somehow never got around to playing that one. You've piqued my curiosity. Perhaps I'll give it a try!
Is the GOG "Original Strife Veteran Edition" a good way to first experience it or should I get the actual original first?

There's no real reason to play the original DOS version unless you just kinda get a thrill from 340x200 resolution and not being able to rebind keys in-game. Pretty sure the GOG version comes with the DOS version packed in anyway.

What do you niggas think of these sprites I made.

This is my first time spriting anyway I have made more but here is an example of what I've been doing.

(...)All thanks for that goes to my other co-developer - Jade. She's the brains behind the whole operation: most of the ideas, balancing, quality control is her responsibility. Without her this mod would, quite literally, not exist nor be the beast it is today. Possibly the most important asset to the whole mod, as without her I'd have no clue what to even do with it.
>She
You just know.
