Why is being a Doomer a bad thing? I used to jokingly say "always assume the worst, and you'll never be disappointed". But now I unironically believe it. It is an outlook that has never failed me.

If my expectations are always at rock bottom, the outcome of any situation will either a) vindicate my blackpilledness, or b) pleasantly surprise me.

Being a Doomer doesn't mean you shouldn't try to improve your lot or be despondent. It just means not being an idiotic Polyanna. Optimism leads to dashed hopes and dreams most of the time.

The problem is the number of doomers, whether in general or single-issue spergs, that actually are just constantly in a state of GAME OVER MAN!!!1!!1
^This. Anyone who's a frequent image board browser/poster can tell you how fucking annoying it is when you're trying to have a somewhat serious civil discussion about a topic and then out of nowhere the blackpilled faggot comes and derails fucking EVERYTHING.

Because for all the bitching and theorizing about a doomed future, most of those doomers rarely ever offer any solutions or take legitimate actions to prep for this alleged future inevitability. If you think the world is ending but can't pry yourself from your computer for 10 minutes, your simultaneous apathy/sperging is the real issue. The fact you have time to sperg about it here means the world is fine... for now.

People started making it into an identity. I'm a chronically pessimistic person and negative on a pretty regular basis but even I find it pretty difficult to tolerate these people. Though that mostly only applies to online interactions. "Doomers" in real life situations tend to be quiet and withdrawn. Which is anti-social, but at least its not annoying.

Question in my mind is if the online Doomers are normal people trying to be cool by acting jaded, or if they're actual depressives who suck at expressing their emotions so they just kind of overdo it. Its not really like this is anything new though, this debate has happened a couple of times. The one that springs to mind is probably the divide between the Beat movement and the Beatniks. Its kind of the same setup, except instead of faggots arguing about poetry its faggots arguing shitposting.

You know, a lot of this doomer stuff seems to stem from self-hatred and the desire to see the world that *supposedly* made you this way to burn, misanthropy stuffs and all.

Personally, I'm kinda a bloomer here so call me naive, but if you can't save the world, then why not save YOUR own world. Heck! I don't mind if the world is gonna blow up and all, just that happiness shouldn't be measured by the state of everything else around you. You just gotta have a little Pollyanna for yourself when you need to.

To constantly wallow in all of the terrible things on this earth and to always assume the worst is unhealthy, especially if you start pulling others down with you. Yes, bad things happen, yes, humans do bad things, but that's not all there is. The news and social media feed on negativity and warps our perception of the world. You say that being a doomer doesn't mean not trying to improve but I've yet to see evidence of that, I've had the joy of scrolling through the comment section on a "Doomer song playlist" on youtube and I saw a constant barrage of misery that can only be rivaled by incel forums raving about their feminine wrists.

Plus it tends to get used to avoid blame for your own mistakes. Why try to be anything more than a minimum wage loser with no close friends or relationships when it's the world's fault, after all. Make your own life shit and then use the fact your life is shit to excuse your behavior. Confirmation bias or something.

We're all helpless cogs in the machine, maaaan.

Because all they do is nothing but whine about how the world is doomed, which makes them incredibly annoying and insufferable. Sure the world's going to shit, but when isn't it going to shit? The Economy's always been a slippery slope, society's never been emotionally stable, space is unpredictable even with our best efforts and the Rapture is a loas of bullshit designed to milk people out of their money,

I'm of the mindset that if it does get worse, I'll believe it when I see it. All these guys do is (probably) get their rocks off to the world being doomed by sociatal/economical collapse or something more physical like wars or space happenings.

Leddit ruined the doomer meme. It didn’t used to be the edgy kms joke tier bullshit it is now, was mainly meant as the “constantly depressed and unmotivated” archetype. Now blackpilled incel faggots appropriated it and it’s shit now.

The price of democratic freedom is eternal vigilance. When a people are too indifferent to the loss of their liberty, too blind to see that unchecked evil will result in complete chaos, disunity and national helplessness, too lazy to bother to protect their form of government, or to govern themselves, then some form of dictatorship will arise to take over the task for them.

Unless large numbers of Americans shake off their present indifference to fast and disappearing liberty and to danger from within, and return to their vigilance, the very people democracy seeks to ward off will arise in America. Would-be dictatorships will do battle with one another, chiefly Marxism and national-socialism, and with the people indifferent to it only one of those malignant forces will have any hope of obtaining power.

In short, endlessly despondent "doomers" are the fault lock in America's defenses.
