I have a friend who, when he was 15, dated a 20 year old girl. They explicitly refrained from sex, but I'm not so sure about James. James has constantly drawn underaged characters in sexual situations, as has his girlfriend. Also, if you date a minor, no matter what age, it counts as pedophilia. I suppose the more accurate term is Hebephillia though.
Thank you for being literally the ONLY person to ever answer my question of why it's considered a pedo. But I have to disagree. In many states in the United States, the age of consent is 16, so even if they WERE considering sexual activity, that would be fine and legal.

It's only 16 in about half of the US. The rest of the states either set it at 17 or 18. In James' case (he lives in New York City, yeah?) it should be 17, because New York has it set at 17.
