Just finished my watch of Dragonball Super (dub) , never seen it before, so I figured with Toriyamas passing it was a good time to give it a go. My wife and I binged it over the course of a few weeks, I had seen DB and DBZ as a kid and she knew most of the characters from cultural osmosis.

Really enjoyed the last half, basically everything after the Frieza resurrection arc was much higher quality. Tournament of power was maybe a tad long, but it was great to just watch these characters fight a ton of unique enemies. Wife had never seen Frieza before this show and now I think we are going to do a DBZ rewatch because she loves him and Vegeta. I was recommended to watch the DBS movies so I am going to hunt them down before we start DBZ.

you should have just skipped the first two arcs and watched the movies... The Frieza arc is pretty horrible in the anime, while the movie, thats also not really great, it still looks way better and you can save some time... I agree with the show getting better at the end tho... But its still not on the same lvl as the old series. (other than GT)

That was just in base form, and wasn't a fight to the death, plus was damn near a tie. Goku has a lot more tricks up his sleeve than Vegeta does, so I'm pretty sure he would win.

Tenkaichi is one of the worst DB games. I wish they'd never moved away from the Budokai design towards Tenkaichi.

There's too much unresolved for it to be a good ending. Not just the obvious stuff like Black Frieza but just tying it into the end of DBZ.

Z is great and all but it and OGDB might as well be two completely different series.

People keep talking about DBZ a lot more than the OG DB for the past four decades, and even then the both are still beloved and are very influential to not just anime, but the rest of media such as western animation, video games and comics

I think people would have taken to the form better if it didn't ditch everything from Golden Freeza. Bringing the shoulder gems back is a good idea and they never should have left, but dark purple on black is a bad combo. Aside from the credit card joke, I've also heard that the form is based on black holes since they're the ultimate space threat-with that in mind turn the shoulder gems gold to resemble supernovas trapped in a gravity well.

Qiddiya is part of the greater Saudi Vision 2030 government program. Absurdly unrealistic goal and the Arab states are notorious for dream projects that just stop early on in development (see: Dubai's multi billion dollar man made islands) due to incomprehension of the budgetary scope.

A fun thing to do when watching OG DB (Funi) is comparing the performances of characters who got a lot of screen time in DBZ vs. characters who had faded into the background by then. It's pretty obvious just from this that Funi dubbed DB after DBZ.

Here's an example:
This is obviously going to be subjective, but IMO Bulma sounds okay but Roshi sounds like an AI. Bulma got a lot of screen time in DBZ (the Namek saga in particular), while Roshi was barely around. It sounds like his VA was still trying to figure him out at this point.
