Where has this weird “actually Super sucks balls” narrative come from over the past few years?
Sure the first two movie arcs sucked but Goku Black was great besides the Potara retcon and the ending and Tournament of Power was fine for what it was.

For all Super’s faults it was still better than GT.
Couldn't say myself, but it probably has to do with the mangá continuing past the animé and people being disappointed with it, and that disappointment leading to people going 'was the animé even good?'.

The mangá gave us stuff like Goku getting trained by Whis's little brother who conveniently died, Vegeta turning into a purple SSJ3 that failed to succeed when deployed, a goatman magician that went from 'this totally cool thing that the heroes can't beat by punching really hard' to 'generic punchman that loses to Goku', Bardock being shown yet again not to be some merciless asshole like he was in the movie that everyone loves, the Granolah arc having two characters wishing to become the strongest in the universe and getting it cheaply because they got it from a 2 ball dragon who somehow was 'more powerful' than the Super Dragon Balls dragon [nevermind that that's a dumb thing to get angry at] only for Blackface Freeza to show up and make it all moot anyway because the wishes never accounted for him being in a time chamber while they were being made, and so on.

I actually liked most of this stuff enough when I read it and I don't feel the kind of disappointment I listed, but that's the kind of stuff I saw being pointed out as bad. Add to it that there's always people at 4chan and the likes who insist on denouncing or decrying everything others like, and you get this mood that Super Was Never Good that's going to last until some time after Daima ends and people are disappointed with another Dragon Ball product or compare it to some other shounen that fits their preferences better.

"The Titanic's maiden voyage went fine apart from the sinking and all the deaths." Imagine if the Namek saga had ended with Frieza returning out of nowhere, killing Goku, teleporting to Earth and killing both Kami and the Nameks, rendering the entire arc pointless. That's what the Black arc did.

The first half of the ToP arc was like putting a bunch of figurines on a vibrating tray and watching them mill about and bump into each other occasionally. It was pretty obvious early on that the production team had massively overreached itself both in terms of resources and talent by making this a giant battle royale.

It came from Super sucking major cock.
I eagerly await the possibility of a year from now, everyone saying that Daima sucks worse than Super. And then maybe a couple of years later, we'll land right back on "Daima is SUPERIOR to Super, actually", and then we all proceed to spend the next several years trading between the two back and forth.

Of course, it could go the other way around, but common consensus is a bitch like that. I mean, you still have a demographic of purists who insist original Dragonball is certifiably better than everything that came after and the rest of the franchise is utter dogshit.

Imagine if the Namek saga had ended with Frieza returning out of nowhere, killing Goku, teleporting to Earth and killing both Kami and the Nameks, rendering the entire arc pointless. That's what the Black arc did.
That is not even remotely equivalent to what happened in the Black arc. The only part you have correct about that is that everything was rendered completely pointless by the end, and all it did was pretty much create the singular narrative thread for the Tournament of Power to happen. Not to defend the Black arc, I just think you're making a bad comparison when there's much more nonsensical things that muddy up the entire arc.

Because it sucks. You can't just ignore two atrocious arcs like they don't impact things. Then we have the Goku Black arc and two tournaments. People also seem to just pretend like the Tournament of Power was just cool Ultra Instinct shit, but 80% was a fucking slog to get through. And I'm probably being generous with that percentage.

Can't you? You could always just watch the movies and start with the U7vsU8 arc.

No limitation will stop the shitposters:

Just got done playing some of the new game. Holy shit it takes me back to playing the first three Tenkaichi games. It’s totally blowing MK1 out of the water with its game play and I have no desire to play any of MK1. I’m giving it a solid 9/10. Super Vegtio is the best character to play as.

What's even worse is Dragon Ball haters autistically screeching in spiteful joy every time Death Battle cucks DBZ, they're more retarded than any body who doesn't like the outcome could ever be because they're the ones taking it the most seriously of all.

But yeah, Bardock would curb stomp Omni-Man based on what they showed (and apparently they took a journoscum approach and twisted the truth like you mentioned, but even then it's an easy Bardock win).
Yeah it strange, most people I've met that knew DB but didn't like it absolutely fucking hated it. It's like you're only allowed to either autistically love it or autistically hate it. They'll see a character you like that should've stomped get jobbed and they'll laugh and tell you to touch grass if you complain about the fight. But as soon as it's the other way around those same people will whine about their character losing and screech at you when you laugh. It's sad.

I was a Super hater before it was cool :smug: . It definitely had its moments but overall I just didn't like it, I was seen as just another hater and has my concerned dismissed, and now suddenly I see more "DBS sucks" than usual...I'm not feeling vindicated. I feel like this narrative suddenly became cool and the normies are now parroting it. You'll see the same reasons they praised the show be used against it, it's odd. Then again I don't really engage with larger communities so I guess I'm just not looking right,

Your avatar fits this perfectly.

Anyway, I just can't get the cock sloppering I'm seeing over Sparking Zero. It's not bad I will say, guess it's growing on me, but I'm the amount of glazing I'm witnessing over it is strange to me.

I haven't liked Super since it came out. I didn't like Battle of Gods or Resurrection of Freiza either. I didn't hate them but they disappointed me and then the show started with remakes of the movies I already didn't like.

My problems with Super stem from it's almost exactly what people who don't like DB have always accused it of being without having seen it. Goku is a complete retard, the plot is just to facilitate new transformations, it's a bunch of gay tournaments that have no lasting stakes, etc.

I always had a suspicion that they were looking at fan material and ripping it off during super's run and wasn't shocked to find out Totaro or whatever was Toyble who was making a dragon ball af fan comic in the mid 00s. The way they achieve SSJG was similar to something I remember from that comic, and there's quite a bit of Dragon Ball Zeroverse and Multiverse just baked into the series' DNA.

which is fine I guess, I don't really hate Super but I don't like it because it feels like a parody of Dragon Ball more than it feels like more Dragon Ball a lot of the time. GT also sucked and has that problem too but in retrospect I think I liked some of the ideas there better than I did with Super. I don't really think any of the new lore and god and multiverse shit added much of anything worth a damn. It could be worse, but it's not particularly good.

I overall like Super. It is not the best thing in the world and it has plenty of problems, not the least of which is the fact that it consistently turns Goku into a caricature of himself (because, yes, he is very much a fight-obsessed, socially tasteless idiot a lot of the time, but then you had plenty of moments throughout Z and I do believe late OG that showed, above all else, he is actually very smart when it comes to fighting and training, and can be quite observant when he needs to be), but I'm able to overlook the areas where it falls flat in favor of the areas that were actually pretty decent to very good. I'm certain you can make the same assessments about GT as well, which was pretty ass for most of its runtime but ended up having SOME good things that stood out.

Played a bit online. i either get stomped or stomp other players. There was one match when me and the other guy went totally in sync and kept timing our dodges and parry. The game really wants to to get good at timing dodges and parries. I hate fusion and giant characters for clearly op they are but i manage to win matches since im allowed to play more characters with less DP use.

Yajoroby is another OP character since he can heal himself to full heal.
