I overall like Super. It is not the best thing in the world and it has plenty of problems, not the least of which is the fact that it consistently turns Goku into a caricature of himself (because, yes, he is very much a fight-obsessed, socially tasteless idiot a lot of the time, but then you had plenty of moments throughout Z and I do believe late OG that showed, above all else, he is actually very smart when it comes to fighting and training, and can be quite observant when he needs to be), but I'm able to overlook the areas where it falls flat in favor of the areas that were actually pretty decent to very good. I'm certain you can make the same assessments about GT as well, which was pretty ass for most of its runtime but ended up having SOME good things that stood out.
Super's greatest sin might be turning Goku retarded and resetting Vegeta's character to wanting to surpass Goku. GT did Goku and Vegeta right, Goku was pretty wise and experienced in GT, and Vegeta settled into his life as an Earthling rather than obsessing over Goku.

I would much rather see stupid shit like the ParaPara Brothers or Giru than the Zenos going OOOOOOAAAAAAHHHHH for the millionth time. And Japanese Pilaf with his hilarious screeching.
I thought Giru was cute, I liked him.

How many times has he temp-banned you so far?
A lot lmao.
It came from Super sucking major cock.
You’d know a lot about that.
a goatman magician that went from 'this totally cool thing that the heroes can't beat by punching really hard'
Yeah, Moro was cool.
Bardock being shown yet again not to be some merciless asshole like he was in the movie that everyone loves
I prefer DB Minus Bardock tbh. His outfit is better too.
only for Blackface Freeza to show up and make it all moot anyway
I hate the new form cuz his Chest is still white. Like tf.
The Titanic's maiden voyage went fine apart from the sinking and all the deaths
What a retarded comparison.
I eagerly await the possibility of a year from now, everyone saying that Daima sucks worse than Super
100%.
I remember everyone sucking Super Hero’s cock when it came out, saying it was better than Broly which made me wheeze. Super Hero sucked except for Orange Piccolo.
Of course, it could go the other way around, but common consensus is a bitch like that.
Mhm definitely.
I mean, you still have a demographic of purists who insist original Dragonball is certifiably better than everything that came after and the rest of the franchise is utter dogshit.
NGL, I don’t care for Dragon Ball as much. I liked the series when it evolved to include more science fiction.
Can't you? You could always just watch the movies and start with the U7vsU8 arc.
Exactly. That’s what I tell new fans to do.
Tournament of Power was cool though. Roshi got a chance to shine again.
And even Tien who’s one of my secret goats. That Cell arc fit and even Buu arc fit went crazy hard.
I love Super, but what the fuck do you mean 'recent narrative'? People have been complaining about Super since it started, especially with that atrocious Resurrection F arc; were you living under a rock or something?
Yeah there were people who didn’t like aspects of it but not a complete disdain for it like we’ve seen during and post pandemic.
I feel like this narrative suddenly became cool and the normies are now parroting it.
Yeah it’s dumb.

Doesn't fix that Super started off with two arcs that were steaming piles of shit. By that logic you can just skip the bad episodes of any show and say it's good.
Tbf, having a shit start can be ignored if afterwards things get good. Lots of excellent shows take a few episodes to get good. Unfortunately for DBS the few episodes is like 100.

Also playing Sparking which takes me back to Tenkaichi days. My biggest issue with it is the cutscenes feel to stilted, maybe it's the lack of the original soundtrack?

Never watched Super since i thought the quality of the animation was downright ugly compered to the movie counterparts. I also hated the changes in the story they did for the Freiza arc compered to the resurrection F movie. i heard people dick ridding Zamasu for years now and while he seems like an cool villain, The hole time travel shenanigan's seems dumb as hell since time travel always confuses things (was confusing enough with cell). they also did my boy Trunks dirty by destroying his timeline. all the struggles he went through were for noting.

The tournament of power seems to be the best arc in Super and all episode seems to be on youtube so i will take my time watching that.

If you've watched Battle of Gods and Resurrection: F, those arcs in Super are almost entirely skippable because they only play out very slightly differently.

Zamasu is a lame ass villain, but he's lame and gay in a way that is, debatably, entertaining. Nigga huffs his own farts and is glad to own up to it. One of his lines when he's doing yet another round of exposition about his motivations and seeing that Goku and Vegeta are just straight up ignoring him is just "I'm so intoxicated by the sound of my own voice that I don't care if I have an audience." YMMV of course, but it is kind of entertaining having a villain more egotistical than Frieza or Cell.

They course correct it after all is said and done by having him go to another parallel timeline and telling, but not showing, that they remove Zamasu as a threat before he can even do anything. Still, wait until you find out about the Time Patrol.

Super Hero sucked except for Orange Piccolo.
SH was objectively better as a film than Broly, but the battles and art were a step down.

Zamasu is overrated, but it's still a good arc. The only part I didn't like was the bullshit way Trunks killed him.

Ehh...not really. It's the biggest missed potential arc of all. It's probably better now that you don't need to wait for weekly episodes, but the pacing was glacial. Manga definitely handled that better (minus UI Roshi lmao).

My only problem with the Trunks arc is them not committing to the tragic ending that would have been a perfect lead in to the Tournament of Power having Trunks fighting for the chance to restore his timeline. Whis pulling an entire timeline out of his ass to force a happy ending (ignoring the existential nightmare of being stuck with what is essentially clones of you and all the people you failed to save). And Future Mai, I really don't give a shit about Future Mai outside of liking that normal humans were at least attempting to help.

having Trunks in the Tournament of power would be so cool for the sole reason of Frizea finally meeting the boy that wasted him all those years ago.

I think there is a what if story with Trunks being in Tournament of power in sparkling zero to wish his universe back but i have not played that far yet.

the trunks arc has some kinda cool shit in it. there's a good Vegeta Trunks moment but my issue is. I never feel like that was the same trunks or future from Z. It ostensibly is but it never felt like it to me personally. I agree with an above posters note on Zamasu being up his own ass I thought he was entertaining enough.

but really that's just my problem with Super it hardly ever feels like the same characters compared to where they last were. In order to like it at all I basically have to divorce it entirely from the original series. which is fine, just not ideal.

People in general seem to love the ToP but I thought it was basically the most boring part of the whole show. it has it's moments but I didn't like any of the new characters and Jesus Christ it seemed like it lasted forever but that could have been just from watching it 2 episodes at a time or however I did it.

I'll give it to Super that as much as I don't like most of it besides some pacing issues it doesn't feel like a chore to watch. It's entertaining, but just never feels like more Dragon Ball Z which GT didn't either but in essentially the opposite ways.

as for Daima I liked the first episode. It looked nice, it was light on plot because most of it as a Boo recap but ill give it a pass for being an anniversary thing that appears less aimed at Super's audience but more for people who vaguely remember DB from 25 years ago. which makes sense because Toriyama has demonstrated the last decade he also only vaguely remembered DB as something from 25 years ago. I like the Demon ReRetcon? whatever you wanna call it. I won't be keeping up weekly but ill check in on it like once a month until it wraps.

That's Xenoverse right? Never played the games but Trunks and (you) are time jannies or some shit?
Time Patrol as an entity I think was introduced in Xenoverse, but it's now a prevalent group in a lot of the EU stuff, including Super Dragon Ball Heroes. This whole extra heap of bullshit has spun off from it. Some of it's cool, a lot of it is fanwank.

Sparking Zero actually sort of explores this in one of its Sparking Episodes. You may be surprised how much better Jiren versus Trunks works from a narrative standpoint than Jiren versus Goku.

I think there is a what if story with Trunks being in Tournament of power in sparkling zero to wish his universe back but i have not played that far yet.
It's his motivation for entering the TOP. However, he ultimately ends up wishing for all of the universes to be restored. Funnily enough in another Sparking Episode, if Jiren wins the TOP, he also wishes for every universe to be restored.

I don't know who over in Japan involved with Dragon Ball hates Trunks but they need to let the poor guy live in peace. After reminding everyone that he's the guy that doesn't fuck around and ending the Buu saga before it starts, his world is ruined again and then deleted outright. He gets a girlfriend at least even if she's simultaneously older than his (now dead) mother and around his age and they have to eat cat food to survive.

Is this yet another video of someone being dogshit at Sparking Zero?
It's Mighty Keef. He's parodying people who go into the story mode straight from the start, only making it more ridiculous because the player is talking to a friend who is wondeirng why he isn't online yet.

That would've been far better. We were robbed. Buu would've been fun too, he could absorb people and transform, which would be interesting. This is probably unpopular but they should've brought Cell back like Frieza too. We don't need Roshi or the androids in ToP, there's way fewer cool possible interactions with them.

The TOP should have nerfed everyone in some way that makes Me. Satan a decent option due to his never using ki from the beginning.

i heard people dick ridding Zamasu for years now and while he seems like an cool villain,
He is legitimately one of the best villains in Dragon Ball. Up there with Cell and Frieza. Especially when it comes to Goku Black.
I remember legitimately getting mad back in the day and wanting Vegeta to smoke him.

Exactly, that’s what makes him so great.
When Fused Zamasu is crying about how he wants to save the universe, it brings out one of the best moments in Dragon Ball by having Vegito make this face.

I think it was introduced in Dragon Ball Online. A lot of DB Online’s DNA can be found in Xenoverse. They repurposed a lot for those games.

"No flying", "no outside weapons", "no killing", a time limit (which is completely arbitrary for Dragon Ball, I know), and the tournament being a battle royale weren't enough?

Not when the fighters can bench press planets, no

Edit: actually it may have been funnier if he was just out of his league the entire time and is the last man standing because he ran and hid
