Welcome to the ever-expanding elevator community on YouTube. These people basically visit office buildings, malls and such to film their trips in elevators/escalators. Elevators are the predominant interest, and escalators are covered later on.

"It appears that lots of new viewers (not my usual audience) are stumbling on this video, so let me offer a little explanation. Elevator photography, as we call it, is a hobby shared by thousands of people here on YouTube. I've been at it for quite a long time (since 2008) and have shot over 1000 videos in the process. In that time, I've stumbled on some amazing elevators... and some that aren't so amazing. Finding poorly maintained and strange elevators is one of the most fun parts of elevator photography, in my opinion. While none of the elevators in this video are actually dangerous (and in fact, most of them aren't really that bad at all), they're all bad enough to make the average person off the street wonder what is going on, and maybe even worry a bit. You can find a full video (and sometimes many videos) of any of these elevators by searching for the location on my channel. This video was really more of an inside joke for my loyal viewers than anything, but I'm thrilled that tens of thousands of other people are being entertained by it!"

(In the above video the creator can be seen at the beginning brandishing his "OTIS" medallion which presumably is from the elevator company with the same name)

"Partially modernized by Cemco: on the outside, both upstairs and downstairs call buttons, and on the inside, the button panel on the right; the one on the left is the original haughton panel. Installed 1974, Modernized 1993."

"Broken Vintage IECO Elevator-Sacramento,CA It's so sad to see a vintage elevator like this one broken. As from what the hotel staff told me after the video, this thing has been broken for a long time, maybe at least two and a half years. Why? The elevator is too old, it is very hard to find replacement parts for it."

Some of these reviewers have close encounters with security and the like which adds some additional drama to the already adrenaline filled world of elevators:

There is also a splinter group of reviewers who focus on escalators:
"Awsome Escalators"

Here's some of the drama you can encounter:

"DieselDucy thinks he owns and is in charge of lift enthusiasts. He regularly tells other lift enthusiasts what they can and can't do. If anyone does something he doesn't like (even when it is in another country) he has a hissy fit. Also he has brainwashed a large group of lift exhausts into agreeing with his every word."

Here's some more Elevator Club drama...

upload_2017-7-29_20-22-15.png

or is it... The "state of affairs in the elevator community"

upload_2017-7-29_20-23-11.png

Correction... "The state of affairs in the Elevator Fandom"

The first video features a Chrischan-tier spergathon which also ties in with the hit PC videogame Roblox:

I have no clue what the argument is about, but it involves Elevator Filmers, Roblox, and theft of Elevator Parts.

"LISTEN TO ME YOU TROLLS NEED TO GET THE FUCK OFF OF YOUTUBE AND QUIT TROLLING US FOR A HOBBY WE HAVE ITS GETTING OLD PLEASE CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNTS AND GET OFF OF YOUR FAT ASS AND STOP SPAMMING US ALL DAY"
"Great job and remember THIS IS ELEVATOR COMMUNITY NOT DRAMA COMMUNITY AND LEAVE US ALONE AND DUE TO DRAMA IS HAPPENING ON YOUTUBE I AM DONE WITH DRAMA"

Although you may think the "Elevator Fandom" is a quiet hobby, perhaps comparable to bird watching - make no mistake that these people are not afraid to throw down:

So is there a name for the most autistic of these guys, like railfans have foamers? Is there some Shaner-level megafoamer out there banned from every building within 100 miles of his home that has an elevator?
I have no idea, but this video calling out "Stinky Ryan Reidy" can hopefully provide some valuable insight:

@1:20
"STINKY RYAN REIDY YOU HAVE TO STOP THIS NOW... AND IT IS NOT FUNNY!"

Another interesting factoid to this community is that there seems to be a sizable "Elevator Simulator" community within Roblox itself.

and here's a video that provides a breakdown of popular members of the "Elevator Fandom". According to one of the comments on the video, this was created by "a user who knows "behind the scenes" things in the elevator community":

Hobbies truly are fractal. There's no bottom to what people will collect trivium over.
