Honestly, this was a stupid mistake on his part, but then again, you live you learn. He says it himself, He is better for it now.

Some people have this incredible thirst to be appreciated, even at their own detriment. They always end up being taken advantage of one way or the other before they learn to temper this attitude.

If you're really nice to begin with, people actually will respect you more for it if you have clear boundaries in place as to what is too nice/too much.

If you don't have such boundaries, they will come to expect from you to always sacrifice yourself, and they won't even appreciate you for it when you do.

You can't believe or trust anything that comes from the short fat pudgy fingers of Reddit. Most of these stories are 100% BS. People post them for attention to brag and to get the dopamine rush from head pats.

No one has ever dealt with people will believe that any of them can be that kind or selfless. No one is going to take the blame for someone else. Especially putting their whole life on the line like that. Most people are taught early on or they learn to not behave that way. They are only concerned about their own survival. Now someone people aren't taught or learn this. They are already that way. It's human nature.

No one is going to do anything like this in corporate culture. Blue collar white collar. Doesn't matter. It's just another BS story from Reddit. Like those old dear penthouse letters they used to post in porn magazines. But it's a more boring version because there's no sex involved.

I agree a 100% that there is a high chance some pajeet is farming likes so he can sell the account, or some retard is just trying to get attention.

This does happen though. And it's not completely selfless. I can think of one dude in particular who would consistently stick his neck out for others, and took the blame on when he was not the responsible one, but shared the honors when the job was well done. On some project, he was probably working more than the actual person the tasked was assigned to. He got burned a few times, but he is doing extremely well now.

Something that makes me inclined to believe it, is him stating that he is now among the best in his field. It may seem corny, but these are the types of people who do this.

They are not scared of consequences, they are aware of their worth in an insecure way. They want to shine, they want to lead. They want their leadership to see them, they want to progress fast, to be recognized and admired by all. Above all, they want to be seen as someone helpful wherever you place them, even when it falls outside the scope of their tasks or expertise.

Some people are just born to please, and it can lead to disaster just as fast as it can lead to excellence.

ETA: had a drink with this dude this week-end the budget he manages today is in the 100 multiples of the one I had with him. It definitely does not hurt to be too nice sometimes if you have a plan.

I doubt it's some street shitter trying to sell account but some lame faggot on Plebbit trying to farm up votes because the pathetic faggots on Reddit live for up votes. It's one of the reasons why I hate Reddit. You didn't see all this up vote and down vote faggotry till Reddit came on the scene. I have been lurking on forums since the early 2000's and using them since the mid 2000's. Back in those days I never saw an up vote down vote system. Back then if someone posted something you didn't like you had two choice learn to deal with it or give them shit and start a flame war. There was none of this up vote down vote faggotry.

That's not how I do things. I wouldn't take the blame for someone else's screw ups. I also wouldn't share shit with anyone who didn't pull their own weight.

Sounds like that old guy played him like a fiddle. Get the dumb ass contractor to throw himself under the bus while you skate through to retirement.
Typical Boomer move. Get the new kid to take a fall for you so you can cash in a cushy retirement. Shoulda let that old fuck rot, he's probably been doing that to people in the company for decades.

He absolutely did, that scumbag used the fake tears bullshit because he knew a caring person would fall for it and then proceeded to completely screw his victim over. He's just the the same manipulative prick he always was but can hide it more easily as a "weak old man facing retirement".

If I saw a 65 year old man crying over a mistake at work I'd tell him to grow the fuck up and stop embarrassing himself.
