Was admittedly in a hurry lol, I wrote that as soon as I caught up to the thread. I didn't expect that Aediot would turn like that, or well, at least turn like that so soon.

But yeah, I finally found the answer after some searching.

I'm going to make a new account on the .online site (after what I saw happened on .wiki, I'm not going on that one again) and I'll be back to where I left off, restoring images and hopefully updating a few articles I know.

Last year (2020), I made an account on the wiki, since I wanted to volunteer and restore images on a few of my favorite articles and maybe get down to updating them with new stuff after that, but like, as soon as I looked away for a few months, there's another fucking ED Civil War going on right now.

You can never know what can happen in the future tbh. But at the same time I'm not that surprised either.

I am leaning on Team .online, I always did felt suspicious about Aediot (he just kinda showed up out of nowhere iirc), so I'm going to give it another go in terms of restoring stuff. But currently, I don't know if its worth it anymore. I mean my account wasn't that big of a deal (I heard account databases got deleted earlier so I already made a new account and going over the steps to get editing privs) but still, I have the feeling that every year some crisis (it was Zaiger, now its Aediot) always happens to the wiki and it feels like its all back to square one every time.

I'll still try to restore what I can later on, it's been getting easier for me, I can at least get the thumbnails back on some articles that I remembered reading through context and the WayBack machine+reverse image search, but still, shit gets confusing sometimes.

Quick question.
Is there a way to have a script or something to restore the images for articles? I was doing it manually last year, but I always wondered of a more efficient way.

The .wiki site claims that they have a script but seeing that its by Aediot I doubt it.

You might be right. For me, its mostly nostalgia. I used to read the site a lot years ago (never really did much community wise, even now, most I did so far was just trying to fix the pics and articles) and I had some laughs. But I'll give it one more try, for now at least.

We get over 500k unique visitors a month on the actual site. This is because everyone still recognizes .wiki as the proper domain.

Granted it's not anywhere near kiwifarms 5million a month, but it's definitely a far cry from the maybe 30k a month (if that) the other wiki will get due to no SEO backing.

They even tried to switch the website url from .wiki to .online via wikipedia but the admins there shut it down rather quickly.



You're free to be as salty as you'd like for leaking a lie I told you + others to see who would say what to whom, but you could be a little less embarrassing about it.

And I'm not selling or even giving the site to anyone unless section 230 dies.

The forum community never edited the wiki to begin with, and while I imagine it feels fun to break away from my decisions you're putting in hundreds of hours of work into a wiki that nobody will read.



I know it's hard for you to use that brain of yours, but if you did you'd know that "Onionland" isn't just the name of my forum. It's the name of all the websites ever hosted on Tor ever.

I named my forum after Onionland to pay homage to that fact.

This entire article you even linked is about someones "spooky delve into darknet websites", not my forum.

But unfortunately you're either all so bad at research that you failed to figure that out, or you're so desperate for dirt that you're riding with the misinformation anyway.

The forum I ran itself was built towards education about darknet and doesn't even allow image uploads. It's pure text.



TL;DR

Get a grip. And maybe stop thinking you run all of Encyclopedia Dramatica on shared hosting while having an admin who openly admits to hiring indian devs for $7 an hour because he can't get root on said shared hosting while complaining about "my tech skills".

Air Force, and it was exceeding authorized access of a computer under 18 USC 1030, and military larceny for transferring a thief's money to a Children's charity in Siberia. Which the Supreme Court is going to declare unconstitutional when Van Buren v. United States comes out (probably this month).

I am happy to report most of the images have been restored on the wiki. We are also pumping out plenty of new articles, and old admins have come back into the fold. The site has never been down except briefly to migrate servers;
