There's this weird thing in the lowest rungs of society where you move into a trailer park and they "give you" the trailer and you pay lot rent of $600 or so a month. (they usually base the lot rent near SSI payment amounts). It's a loophole so the trailer park owner isn't a "landlord" and doesn't have to do any upkeep on the nasty trailer. This would be the type of arrangement a guy like Ralph, with terrible credit, no stable job or savings, would need to get a place in the USA.

Imagine he had a woman (and her dad!) that were dumb enough to lend him their good credit history and resources, and he pissed it all away. Ralph has the profile of a shifty, untrustworthy wigger drug dealer to any landlord in the USA. A guy like him usually depends on a baby mama to have a place to live. If Ralph moves back to the USA he would only be able to get the nastiest type of rental imaginable - extended stay hotels or gross as trailers. There is a sector of the economy that offers gross accommodations to shady, no credit, drug addicts/dealers as long as they can cough up a few hundred cash a week and that would be Ralph's only option.

Ralph hates the USA because he failed so miserably at being an adult in American society and he's reminded of that any time he would attempt to find housing.

by the way for those watching from home, this is a huge scam and you should do everything humanly possible up to and perhaps including being homeless in your damn nissan before doing this, as it can be very hard to get OUT of (trailer is always worthless, can't be sold, but can cost thousands to dispose of and they could go after you if you abandon it).

protip: shitty van living in the walmart parking lot is an actual reasonable option, second protip: do your damndest to make it not look like a fucking rapevan

Well in the shady trailer parks I'm talking about (Milwaulkee had a famous one, the worst place to live on the "white side" of the city) the deal is the most recent "owners" just abandoned the trailer or were evicted for not paying their lot rental fee. The park owner just waited for another desperate person to show up and they then give them the trailer (usually still full of trash and debris). The same shitty trailer could be "owned" by several people in the same year, it's all just a legal loophole that lets the owner of the park out of having to do any sort of upkeep or repairs to all the shitty trailers in the park. If the trailer park owner rented the trailers like a landlord the city could force him to perform maintainence and upkeep, but if he only owned the lots they can just collect rent and the actual trailer upkeep is the "owner's" problem.

Actually sticking real legal ownership on someone for a broken down trailer, and going after them to get rid of it or move it, is another circle of hell. I think the parks I'm talking about going after the transient meth head and drunk roommate to move the trailer they "owned" for three months was just laughable. The solution was just give the trailer to the next chump.

the usual saving grace is the people so far down on this shitstick are as judgement proof as they come, and you can't squeeze blood from a turnip

I done seen it tried when the methtrailer burned down, but again, ain't gonna get shit and the city don't care why there's a burnt out husk of a trailer on your lot, they just wanner gone

Van living is kind of metal. Walmart van living is sad tho. Might as well make the best of a home on wheels.

My first real job out of high school was doing tree service in an area close to a very large national park. At the time, all I owned was a built out E series and a dog. The park let me hop around so long as I didn't stay in one spot for more than two weeks.

if I were forced into it I'd probably go trucklife, you can modify the back of a box truck to be pretty nice and it's damn discrete

They made him forget what happened 5 minutes ago. While effective at ignoring legitimate problems for a short moment, it makes all of Ralph's Machiavellian ideas seem pants on head retarded. Ralph is definitely in the 'thinks he's smarter than he actually is' category and the only outcome has been progressively bountiful corn.
