Ex-Riot Games dev says they were fired for subtweeting about fake trans allyship

A former Riot Games developer has accused the company of firing them after subtweeting their frustration with a co-worker over anti-trans attitudes.

"I was fired from Riot Games for vaguely tweeting I was tired of fake trans allies after an ally in the inclusion channel said it's ok to consider my pronouns optional," Yonah Gerber posted in a Twitter thread yesterday.

Gerber, who is currently senior narrative archivist for the Apex Legends and Titanfall universe at Respawn Entertainment, had worked at Riot before Kotaku first reported on a sexist work culture at the League of Legends developer in 2018, and they confirmed having been a source for the site for multiple articles about Riot. However, the reason for their termination had not been covered previously.

A spokesperson for Riot declined to comment.

Gerber told GamesIndustry.biz the company cited violations of its social media policy in firing them. This is not the first time an ex-Riot employee said that the company cut ties for that offence.

Just weeks after the first report on Riot's cultural problems, system designer Daniel Klein said he was fired for social media violations after the company announced plans to host a series of PAX West panels specifically for women and non-binary attendees. When a contingent of respondents decried the exclusion of men from such event, Klein called them "absolute overgrown toddlers" and "manbabies."

Riot games seems to be transparently performative woke. The character Taliyah was meant to be trans but higher ups stopped it from being anything genderspecial and barely try to monetise her because she’s not attractive enough.
All the gay content is West only. China will have no clue there are gays or lesbians in the game at all.

Their card game seems to have the most woke content but considering the various controversial cards that exist lorewise (stuff that only real fucking losers like me care about) I’m pretty sure anything in the card game can be considered only slightly possibly canon at best.

Yeah, and I am pretty sure she got a settlement package from Riot on condition of not doing exactly what she is doing here. I wonder if its lawyers are going to take notice now that her constant whining has finally made a spalsh.

Also, Daniel Klein is one of her two husbands who she was cucking with other men until she grew too fat.

This is just precious. I want more of this drama.

If that's the same person- yes, she is actually cuban.
Also she isnt a "game dev", she is an archivist. So it's like the guy who buys office supplies at some factory causing problems. Sure, his job is also important and he deserves a fair treatment, but he is not exactly a floor worker or an engineer- factory can run woithout him. I bet they fired her not for this bullshit, but for bringing it to the twitter, exposing the inner office relations, thats a no-go.
Also she he a track record of causing problems for the employers. I believe she was fired for the exact same thing- bringing inner kitchen to the twitter. She is terminally online (at least 40-70 twits per day, if I remember correctly) and a pathalogical proven liar.
I suggest people find and watch Josh "Fedder" Moon people stream he did on her.

I'm not up on twatter culture. There's probably 183 twatacular terms I have never heard of.

But stuff like this is why using your real name or trying your online accounts to you job is a bad idea. If you have a work related twitter it should just be for upcoming stuff related to that job. Bland, matter of fact news and that's it. If you want to voice an opinion do it anon. The combo of wacky name/anime avatar words well. You'll blend in with the crowd and be hard to single out as long as you don't directly reference anything.

I googled and now I remember. She's that one that looks like she wandered away from the asylum while no one was looking.

She probably thinks she's a dev because she knows where the power button is on the computer.
