Emergency personnel are responding to an explosion near the American Reproductive Centers building in Palm Springs, California.
The incident has rattled homes and startled residents, part of the USA TODAY Network, reported. Some residents are reporting smoke and an odor, according to the outlet.
Palm Springs Police Department told the Desert Sun said the explosion at about 11 a.m. local time in downtown Palm Springs, which was felt as far as 2 miles away, appears to be a car explosion by the American Reproductive Centers clinic. Lt. William Hutchinson said that there appears to be at least one fatality.
"Everything is in question, whether this is an act of terrorism," he said on the scene.
Palm Springs Police and Fire crews are currently on the scene. The city of Palm Springs advised residents to stay away from the area so that emergency crews can work the incident.
According to it's website, American Reproductive Centers started in 2006 and is "Coachella Valley’s first and only full-service fertility center & IVF lab."

This is a developing story

I’m putting my money on an EV explosion. An EV fire burned out 50 cars in the Jacksonville airport yesterday.

Don’t forget to buy an EV and save the environment, goy!

Edit: Never mind, that looks like a car bomb. Crazy antinatalist leftist?

I'm trying to think of a reason to carbomb an IVF facility and nothing's coming to mind.
I suppose if someone believes destroying fertilized eggs is abortion is murder, then that could be a reason why. Why bomb the clinic? They're destined to be destroyed anyhow so what difference would bombing it make. Then again, perhaps a mother felt she was lied to about the quality of the embryos she received. That is plausible too.

But they’d vapourise a loads of eggs and embryos doing it.
As the poster you're replying to said, they'd be disposed of anyways. Kill a few embryos that were already dead to save a bunch more that wouldn't be.

Yeah, but this is Palm Springs, a resort town in the California desert that somehow manages to find the water for about a hundred or so golf courses. You're not likely to find those sorts of people there.

IVF costs a lot of money and doesn't always work my money is on someone now broke and childless.

as much as i'd love a funny story about a troon demanding a uterus transplant or some such.

Nearly all fertilized eggs involved in IVF are doomed. Someone could reason destroying a clinic reduces the ability of these doctors to buy and sell embryos and thus "saving" more lives in the long term. Or maybe some schizophrenic gooner is angry and wants his sperm back by any means. That'd be the funniest outcome.

Good point.

They didn’t succeed in making a baby for you, your ovum/sperm didn’t work after thawing, they implanted the wrong embryo popsicle in your surrogate, your frozen embryo popsicle miscarried…but most especially they specialized in making designer babies for rich gay men.

Or my fav. - your gold digging ex-spouse is holding embryos hostages there.

I gotta ask. Is their jizz stored at a fertility clinic as well?
Yes, jizz, frozen embryos, frozen ovum is all frozen and stored there. After year or two it might be taken to long term storage facilities or if clients move.

Basically this bomb destroyed a lot jizz, ovum and esp frozen embryos gay men paid a lot of money to get produced. A lot of expensive designer gaybies were lost today.

I'm calling it now, the explosion was caused by a stray bullet fired by a staff member after getting attacked by nazi zombie aborted fetuses who were raiding the clinic to try to save their unborn comrades

That said, I can see why somebody would blow up an abortion clinic but why the fuck would you want to blow up an IVF clinic? They're pretty much polar opposites. Unless it was some nutter who cracked up because a treatment didn't work and is going postal over it
