I confess to some cognitive dissonance. I still follow KO's political discussions and still largely agree with them on many things. There's a lot I'm concerned about when it comes to the incoming return of the orange pig's iron-fisted rule--especially now with his new technofeudalist buddies along for the ride this time and eyeing up neighboring territories as part of some expansionist fantasy--but seeing these fuckers panic over it is still giving me a sense of schadenfreude.

I see some uppity troon say things like "everything we've worked for is falling apart" or "we'd made so much progress and now we're losing ground to the right again". I just want to say, "Good. Again, just the text alone divorced from any context, I agree. There is a demographic of balding middle-aged losers yearning for their early-2000s glory days where they could be all sorts of unpleasant little snotgoblins in their "sekret interwebz club" gaming forums in between bouts of jacking it to porn DVDs on their dorm room's PS2. I dislike this imperialist "we should buy Greenland and Canada and rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of Trumpistan America" bullshit, I dread the impending further gutting of safety agencies like the FDA, CDC, or OSHA considering the increased prevalence of disease and safety hazards since the pig was last in office gutting those things, and I'm in disbelief at all these red-hat idiots who are suddenly outraged at Elon's H1B schemes because "our vote was red as a vote for the American worker!" when a red vote--the vote for fiscal deregulation and union-busting--is only ever for the American oligarch and the actual worker's vote is the blue one.

But the thing is, I hate these degenerate wokescolds that much that I can't help but feel some bitter amusement as everything goes to shit around us all, and I understand why the right is making a resurgence because other people hate them and vote against the interests of the common man to spite them.

The whole idea that they ever had "the right wing on the ropes" is farcical though. The Democrats aren't a left-wing party and never will be, it's a party of centrist, opportunistic Neoliberals who have absolutely no issue with Trump taking the helm again. Their entire spiel about "democracy being at stake" was all just for show so that the American voter-cattle keeps them in business and ensures their paychecks. Keep the pendulum swinging left and right, keep issues such as Roe v. Wade alive, to ensure that they'll always have funding for years to come.

There was a time before 2022 where I was generally in agreement with Knockout's political takes, and only really took issue with their increasingly dumb stance on word policing and gender bullshit. Generally speaking, I think they are right about Musk and Trump supporters being morons, for instance! However, after the Ukraine war started, the veil was lifted from my eyes as I suddenly saw the exact same people, who a few months prior would say things such as "one bad apple spoils the bunch", suddenly start whitewashing and celebrating Azov Nazis. How could such cognitive dissonance come to be?

With the Gaza conflict that followed, and Knockout's strict opposition to Israel, I started to understand their worldview -- they generally mean well, they think they are on the side fighting for good, but are incredibly, incredibly naive and gullible. They have completely swallowed the Western-Neoliberal narrative on most topics about the "rules-based order" -- namely that the West is the most progressive and LGBTQ-friendly part of the world, and therefore must be defended at all cost. They genuinely believe that the Democrats and the EU are morally good parties that always support human rights, gender equality, trans acceptance, and such. But when Germany unconditionally supports bombing the fuck out of Palestine, Kamala cheers and smiles as she hands the keys to the kingdom to Trump, or Facebook suddenly does a heel-turn and allows users to call trannies retarded -- that's when their entire worldview falls apart and they are left scared, frightened and confused.

That's how such statements as "it feels like everything we've worked for is falling apart" come to be. It was all an illusion that they wholeheartedly, genuinely believed in. They didn't work towards anything -- the rich and powerful let their kind have a day in the sun, and now that they've become inconvenient, they're getting shoved back in the drawer.

Their reaction to Trump's recent statements, and the calls for the EU to take legal action against Musk are equally as indicative of their lack of understanding about how the world really works. Musk IS capital. He's the richest man in the world, working for the most powerful man in the Western world. He's basically untouchable, and calling him a "loser" isn't going to change that fact. Furthermore, Europe has whored itself out to the United States for the past 4 years under Biden's regime, turned themselves into servile vassals through LNG transports, with two more countries joining the extortion racket known as "NATO". They can't push back against Trump, as much as they'd like, and we're seeing the symptoms of that develop in real-time.

There were several Knockout threads where they cheered on the exact steps the United States was taking to ensure complete subjugation of the European Union. Now Trump's back, and he's fully exploiting the groundwork that Biden set up for him. Eurocucks, especially the ones on Knockout, get fucked, you did this to yourself.

Whole post is bang-on if not a bit directionbrained. The website has become a cognitohazard for people of all class and status. Even if you want to hang out with like-minded people on the 'left', these people ain't it.

There is no meaningful political discourse. It's all different shades of liberal idpol with the occasional marxist larper who is quick to point out that fellow working class demographic groups are actually evil and bigoted and not worth the time. They are entirely preoccupied with the exact same headlines mainstream media generate to further enflame the culture war. It's as engaging as it is frustrating to watch them look down on other communities and figures and behave above it all, yet fall into the same inconsolable rage when Meta makes a minute policy change, or Musk comments 'interesting' on some ragebait.
It's at least funny to see them pearl clutch about the longest lasting, least efficient supposed genocide of the trans community, when their real problems are grassroots in nature and, more often, personal and self-inflicted.

I have enough Facepunch/Knockout in my history that my stake is personal enough to not laugh, but feel geniuenly dismayed over some other elements of the community. It's all fun and games to see impotent trans rage, to see divisive identity politics managing to - surprise surprise - divide them further.
What isn't funny is the 10 page DID larping thread. It's not funny seeing people feel so comfortable dismissing the most polite resistance to their ideas as bigotry or ignorance. It's not funny seeing a community that I know once had some impact on me, appear totally and disconnected from reality. They threw out integrity, shot their own growth in the foot, and cemented a community of perverted sycophants all so they could spend time entertaining the delusions of someone who goons in VRChat for too long out of the day. You get the impression anyone there could hit rock bottom again and again, but instead of finding release in self-improvement and self-reflection, they run back to the same insane website, dominated by the same 8-12 person trans polycule that tells them the same thing again and again: 'It's not you that's wrong. Every time I check in on how KO is doing I think hmm maybe this time they'll have had a moment of reflection and stopped enabling these obviously very mentally unwell people. and every time it has only gotten worse. I'm genuinely surprised that it's still alive at this point; it seems the only new users it gets are more schizos enticed by its reputation as a safe space for the deranged. You've perfectly summed up my feelings on it too, but I was actually glad to be rid of the place. It was obvious there was no nuanced discussion to be had. No fun to be had. The members I used to have good interactions with were pretty much all gone, replaced by terminally online shut-ins who learned everything they know about the world from reddit and their own forum. It was a joyless place. And that was a long time ago. But it definitely had an effect on me, evidenced by the fact I occasionally check in on its shambling corpse. It really is a shame it ended up the way it did but that's what life's about sometimes, moving on. I just wish they would too.
