ResetEra feels more dogmatic and chapo-esque to me. It's more of a political ideology motivating their actions and words, which one can argue has correlation with mental illness, but not to the same degree as knockout. Furthermore, you notice a greater amount of trans-propaganda on ResetEra, which makes it immediately apparent what its mission statement is. ResetEra is OBVIOUSLY a trans-forum, which honestly makes it less insidious imo.
Watching the decline of FP you notice that over time, more and more successful people are either banned, or are whittled away due to boredom or no longer have time to even look at/care about FP. Over time, the terminally online types, trannies being one of the greatest examples of this, became the majority of users. There was ALWAYS a contingent of trannies on FP, but it grew over time.
Like the transition from Neogaf to ResetEra, the transition (no pun intended) concentrated the terminally online and extremist types. However, Neogaf still exists, providing refuge for those that didn't wish to move. No such thing exists for FP, outside of maybe this single thread. As such, the trannies in charge of KO have complete control over the userbase. It's far more insidious in this way, if I didn't know the history of Knockout, I wouldn't be able to immediately identify it for what it is, unlike with ResetEra. Knockout also has no ability to recruit, the forum bans anyone that disagrees with the hivemind, banning the only modders and model-makers, so the forum has lost sights on its original mission statement, being a Gmod forum that has a great community. Now it's just... a forum.
In short: ResetEra feels like a politically motivated forum that is enhanced by mental illness. Knockout feels like a mentally ill forum enhanced by politics. I don't know if that makes any sense.

One has a vanguard of moderators that try to be thought leaders with nothing keeping them in check and an audience who conforms, while the other has moderators eternally paranoid about keeping the favor of a mob made up of various factions and cliques. With Resetera you could replace the mods with normal people and end up with a decent reddit-tier forum that has a few crazies. The KO mods are interchangeable because the moderators follow the community.

Imma be honest with yous, this shit was inevitable. It was always a rather "closed" society, a kind of micro-reddit. Terminally online degenerates always ran the show. It was just more acceptable to be "edgy" before if you're the right dude.
In retrospect, despite the famous "ain't that the same as transnigger" moment, it was inevitable it would have become like this simply due to the way how forums and internet moderation works, or that good old "any organization that isn't explicitly right wing becomes left wing over time" except a little modified. They always catered to degenerates, but didn't have any sort of red line. So the goalpost kept moving until they got tranny'd.

After year of hard work reading javascript for kids, knockout devs are adding banned user subforum. Perhaps they realized that people leave website if they get banned for bullshit reason and can't appeal without joining their troon infested discord.
