Honestly I can't comprehend KO in general anymore. I ended up as a part of FP toward the end of it, and actually got to witness some of the better parts of the community before lord knows what happened.
You see, I'm not one that really enjoys getting upset, or up in arms over the issues that plague 'the world' I just like to have a quick here and there. Maybe talk in depth about a game or other thing that interests me for a little while, and move on for the night.
Knockout just completely killed that entire atmosphere for me.
I can't recall a single time where there was actual discussion on anything that didn't devolve into a loop of the same people either bashing, or praising things like a video game - which for what I considered a special interest forum to be rather concerning. Just look at any AAA game release in the past couple of years. When TLOU 2 dropped the entire forum seemed to be up in arms about how artists had to view gore for reference and were 'traumatized.' All the while I'm sitting here thinking....thats the job? Lord forbid you want to actually talk about the game (regardless of opinion.) NO - you have to be upset with us about this because this is the only thing we are able to talk about - things that upset us.
Or recently the fucking bizarre obsession with Back 4 Blood and the constant bashing of what I actually consider a rather charming game to play. If a bit rough around the edges. Try to go into that thread and prepare to get trashed on if you even appeal to any rationality you might think is left in these people. Because they're too far up this banal obsesssion with Valve that should have died with FacePunch.
Seriously one of the most hostile and honest to god boring places to discuss anything gaming related for what I used to consider a crux of discussion that wasn't reddit. And thats not even the tip of the iceberg.
Knockout is just an incredibly uncomfortable place to be in. Whether you want to talk about games, or even check out some news. In my own experience I have literally gotten jumped on for voicing dissatisfaction where others sang praise. And it's never just a single person either. It usually starts with a snobby "Well what do YOU suggest
" to get you to sprout out something for ammo that they're guaranteed to twist on you. Next thing you know, Person #2 is in stating "Well if you think X then that most definitely means you're suggesting Y is true as well." I think it was in one of the MANY threads on avatars with some kind of NSFW content being bannable. Some poor sod sounded like he absolutely had it with this shit. Came up with a weak point toward the hivemind. Had his words twisted around him and just straight up nuked his account from what looked like the stress of it all while the people who goaded it out of him or her sat there and acted confused about why a person would flip out from that. It couldn't be them that created that situation. They're a "Welcoming" community!
What a fucking lie from what I saw right there. A welcoming community doesnt keep attack dogs on the side for whenever someone disagrees with their favorite poster.
I'm in the den of the beasts anyways. So I might as well go further since I doubt I'll use this account often. As a gay faggot guy. KO is the exact opposite of the community it tries to represent. There isnt a lick of sensibility to anything LGBTWhateverElse there. If you're trans? Cool you're in the cool kids club. Anything else you're treated like an outcast, or just a straight up fucking weirdo. It's pretty telling that the ONLY active thread there is the Trans thread. Gay / Lesbian threads? Deader than the Sahara. Probably a case of silent pressure from the trans community there to either join the trans collective, or get left off the platform itself since you're not one of the golden children there.
Its honestly a pretty terrible place for anyone but the people who are mentally stuck there. I'm glad I got out. I'd love to share more bullshit. But this is already long as the shit I had at work. That and I dont like the idea of doxing my old (nuked) account there so I can get called a transphobe, alt right facist, pedo, pedo-apologist. or whatever the fuck word of the month they want to use to belittle the people that aren't exactly like them.
