You know, I used to go on Facepunch over a decade ago. Back then, I was young enough to take their pretentiousness at face value. I thought that was just the way things were. I never thought it was odd that a Garry's Mod forum took itself so seriously that it would ban you for the slightest fuck up.

I evetually did realize they were all assholes and left, though. The fact that the last remnants of their community are now insane trannies does not surprise me in the slightest. My only regret was ever wasting my time on that stupid website. Oh well, kids make mistakes.

Right off the bat I'll say I've never been a fan of the Transphobia here, having met and spent plenty of time with trans women what you find on KO is the equivalent of looking at Karens and applying it to all women. Some folks are just nutty individuals trying to desperately exercise some sort of power by weaponizing their identity and chastising anyone who disagrees.

I did find entertainment in the throwaway accounts for a while, try using something other than M247 for once. I'm not going to spill all the beans, but some stuff was too easy. The narratives folks here would form were quite entertaining, plenty of selective screenshots and implied things.

I've never really had a beef with KF or anyone here save 1, bigotry aside Sobotnik is the only person that pissed me off. None of this shit matters unless it impacts my life, and their bullshit did just that. My only goal was to stop disruption on the forum, as you all know people tend to shit the bed over the most trivial shit. Never bothered me that folks here wanted to gawk from the peanut gallery, and there's a few of you we never banned because you never caused issues on the forum.

Many of you brought up plenty of valid complaints outside the bigotry, I wasn't blind to the issues the forum has. The question was how to go about changing that, which doesn't have a simple answer that doesn't involve pointless drama. My solution was to have a censor system that individual users could tailor to their own liking, whole point being folks wouldn't have a leg to stand on when they could have set their own shit. Problem was Dev time was precious, and it was a big project considering everything was made from scratch. It was still on the way up until the event that lead to me leaving. The mod team knew it was BS, plenty of users knew it was BS, but in the end I had enough of managing 30 somethings online drama for no net gain. I had plans to try and shape the forum into more of a social network that offered the traditional anonymity afforded by classic forums with the functionality of more modern platforms.

Of course all of that is irrelevant now, folks seem content having a lifeboat. Of the roughly 2500 users that interact in some way on the forum each month (at the time of my departure) and an unquantifiable amount of lurkers less than 70 basically dictate how the forum goes, with there really being a main 15-20 that guide the conversation. That was my mistake from the get go; I should have kicked the shitters. In my own naivety I didn't want to repeat how things were done on FP, though if I did I don't think the end result would have changed much. Honestly what sucked the most was the DM's I'd receive from folks choosing to leave the forum because of how it has become - there's no room for error, ignorance, or obvious humor. Only a handful of people know that the forum still exists because I told the current owner I'd run things so long as he kept paying the bills from the coffers; one pointless shit drama event in the second year was enough stressful bullshit for him to almost pull the plug. For the record, KO is pretty damn cheap to operate. Any jackoff with a day job could host it essentially indefinitely.

All and all I can say I am objectively happier not being involved with KO, I poured far too much of my life into that and forgot what it was like to do things. To whoever I wronged here, I legitimately don't remember many things due to TBI. I barely remember anything from the FP days. All I ever wanted was for the forum to be a place where folks could post memes and talk about cool shit.

I wont be posting here any further, never cared for ridiculing people in general. Figured I'd give a final eulogy somewhere, and the irony is not lost to me.

This makes me feel awful just posting this (because its been said before), but it's all so sad, yet all so retroactively stereotypical; the cool, old tech-based forum that used to host a bunch of cool discussions is now a troonfest with all the bells and whistles. Its complete and utter culture shock to people like me, who are trying to imagine how old facepunch would react to something like this. Old facepunch was pretty aggressive and edgy. They'd probably have a thread just about this weird copycat website and how "gay and retarded and unhinged it is" with everyone agree or funny voting.
The kind of things that got you banned on old facepunch...I mean you'd still see lots of bans handed out just cause, but it was mostly to encourage a certain forum culture or to prevent retarded useless posts. Now its so obviously power tripping without any attempts at hiding it.

Despite the political differences, I admire this a lot, but you put your foot down at the wrong time. Funny timing to do my occasional lurk here, it's nice to actually hear your final thoughts too 'fallen legend', fwiw I think what you did is admirable in the way you managed to build it all up while the FP sink was all sinking and everyone was trying to find refuge at the time. I just wish things got steered in a better direction too.

Since I'm posting here too, I want to leave some thoughts. I think some of you go way too harsh with people, but I'm not here to defend KO and I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't say I actually do lurk here occasionally because I'm also frustrated with the forums all the same. I actually kind of left it about 2 years ago, no fanfare or anything, just logged out of it and never looked back. Recently only started going to the site again because one of my Discord friends was posting about how frustrating a thread was and got curious about the drama, and sorta started using it again once in a while since I did miss having a forum to post and lurk around on.

I'm a troon and have faggot friends who call each other faggot and retard all the time too, and I think it's frustrating how KO has started to police every word despite no ill intent, and just overall a lot less fun and more restrictive of a place to post on. Literally feels like walking on eggshells even on just rating something now.

The whole change on wording bans to mutes is also hilarious and really feels like something out of a parody. Browsing the whole Hogwarts saga of threads too was a mix of awful and hilarious, and I can't believe they ended up banning it in the end. I don't judge people on the media and stuff they consume, and I think if I start rationalizing everything I consume I'd go insane.

It's kind of funny how little has changed in the last 2 years since I initially left, other than the further push to just make everything unfun and sanitized, and some changes in the green names.

Also in regards to Coyote, they're definitely a tranny for a while now and I hate them too. Piece of shit was very abrasive and always thought they were right and was always high and mighty about things. Coyote also made this abomination of animation after that Pulse Nightclub shooting, which everyone even the most of the troons in KO ended up hating because of how tone-deaf it is. I usually don't like shit-talking anyone really, and could barely hold any grudges but Coyote was one of those people that were on my permanent shitlist too, pre and post trooning.

All that said, I think as someone who is lurking and posting KO again, I think the reason I haven't fully left really is that I still hold an attachment to some of the people still there. I met my first online friends from FP and a fair amount of them are still my friends to this day. Some of them are also still posting in KO and we kinda just navigate through the site as a sort of change of fresh scenery outside our Discord shenanigans. Reddit is way too messy and retarded, and 4chan's alright but sometimes I do like being able to familiarize myself with usernames attached to a community. I also think some of the autistic modding and dev stuff people post about there are pretty neat, and the occasional gaming session event they bring up is fun.

I'd be lying if I said though the rest of the horrible stuff doesn't leak out regardless. It is frustrating to get another holier-than-thou Resetera-incarnate user post about why this and that sucks and do the same song and dance of why this and that is bad, and just not allow the discussion to move further from there. Whether it'd be just a funny video thread, a game thread, or whatever. It's funny to see them being the lone or few dumb rating or something on a completely reasonable post in regard to a mundane topic. I turned it almost a guessing game for myself and would see if I'm correct, since 9 times out of 10 it'd be users like AnEvilGuy, Meeescha and areallygoodbrownie, who are people that mostly lurk but show how retarded they are once they start posting.

It was too late in late 2019, and it was far too late once Covid hit. And the new owner sounds like a dramatic sperg. The part about KO being infested by terminally online weirdos and trannies has been mentioned many times before and I won't reiterate it, but KO's code is open source. I recommend phpBB, Invision, Xenforo... but for Knockout, anyone can fork it, host it, and then add the forum features by themselves. Or, hell, if you want a blast from the past, download vBulletin, though I don't recommend it. If you want a forum structured like the classics, I recommend phpBB or Xenforo with a sleek theme (to make it look modern). Invision works too, but it comes off looking pretty soulless and the white-on-blue profile looks far too corporate IMO.

Yes, exactly. And therein lies the problem with having one person work on everything. Because they are the single source of any feature, there's no sense of project management - they'll throw in whatever they need whenever they need instead of planning for the future. I can't even imagine how big of a bottleneck it must be for the mod team to run every single feature past them and wait as they code it.

There's two people, actually (I think), but it doesn't change the fact that the coding admins are vastly outnumbered by the non-coding mods.

I actually forgot who owns KO now. I missed a lot of the events that happened in the last couple of years and I'm not aware of too many of the details either, and I don't know when he actually disappeared from KO but I am at least glad Venomousbeetle is gone. KO users like to refer to how toxic FP was and how elitist it was like with the GMF at the time, but Venomous honestly harbored and embodied those actual toxic elements and more. The guy always sound like he was full of himself alongside Joker, though Joker was the less harmful of the two. Either way, I'm glad I haven't seen them again.

So far the only really annoying moderator I've come across is waut3r. Always found him kind of an annoying prick too when he was just a regular user in FP, but usually ignorable, but now that he's a mod I have to keep seeing him everywhere now.

Also just came across a ban while typing this out that's completely unnecessary and it's the type of shit that frustrates me with the site. The whole context of it is completely harmless, and the video posted already says the slur, it's faggots.

Retards running the shitshow wouldn't have done as much damage to the community as KO inflicted upon itself. It can best be described as arsonists running the fire department. And I archived AFL's message (here and here), just in case it gets removed (somehow).

The best part of all of this is that if someone from KO discovered Inac- I mean, A Fallen Legend's - post, they would have banned him outright if he hadn't already nuked his account years ago. As it is, they'll probably smear him as "alt-right" or some other garbage buzzword since I know they lurk this thread.

UJ never struck me as the technical kind of person and my first thought was Inacio for me too when he was talking about M247, but you may be right. Inacio seems to have disappeared online almost entirely and seemed to be just completely hands-off, and kind of early on iirc in KO after he gave the keys to UJ. UJ seem to be more involved with all the affairs that happened with the forum too right after in comparison to Inacio, and it seems to make sense it'd be him more than Inacio.

What about when users were complaining about the "clique" that was more active on KO Discord and stuff like that? The topic probably cropped up every now and then anytime KO remembers FP, but I remember when I was still browsing around 2021 Craptasket got involved in topics, and people were still hung up on his "how's it hanging heh" and shit. And then a bunch of other stuff about how mods were biased on Discord and selective banning and such.

My only other guess were the numerous long-running Meta threads about the forums themselves.
