Fallout New Vegas DLCs

>Old World Blues
Stealth suit you don't want to take off, Muggy and general wackiness of it all.
>Honest Hearts
Joshua Graham steals it and the religious subtext of Zion, Daniel being New Testament and Joshua being Old, Daniel leaving the physical Zion while Joshua leaves it spiritually. "I was baptized twice, once in water, once in flame. I survived because the fire within me burned brighter than the fire around me ." Plus Sneering Imperialist.
>Lonesome Road
Long journey through ruins with ED-E you will miss an upgrade for, needing to blast nukes for the achievement and Ulysses not being that interesting despite being in the other DLCs
>Dead Money
Bring a mod companion to carry some basic supplies like a gun, ammo and stimpaks, makes going through hell alot easier.

Dead Money: Great.
Old World Blues: Good.
Honest Hearts: Mediocre.
Lonesome Road: what the fuck were you thinking, avellone

Honest Hearts feels like a waste of the Burned Man and Zion, which was a really great looking environment. Lonesome Road wastes all the build-up of Ulysses on inane ramblings and focusing way too much on New Vegas' shitty combat mechanics.

I suppose for me, I liked Dead Money the best. I dig the atmosphere and the emphasis on survival. Honest Hearts was good too thanks to how awesome Joshua Graham was. Old World Blues had fun characters, but I remember certain sections being a pain in the ass to navigate.

Lonesome Road is pretty much what happens when Avellone is given a bit too much freedom. Ulysses spends so much goddamn time talking and huffing his own farts that it's hard to really connect to him. Apparently he was going to be a companion in the main game and the dude had HOURS worth of dialogue. He was essentially Avellone's pet character and it really showed. Plus the whole DLC felt like it was just creating an excuse to keep the Fallout series going by either nuking certain areas or having the Tunnelers fuck shit up in the Mojave. And looking back, I don't really care much for how they gave ED-E a quirky personality. He was fine enough as is in the main game. A floating robot that simply follows commands, makes noises and has stuff placed on him from his travels across the US.

Really though, I kinda feel the DLC was the weakest aspect of New Vegas. For me, they kinda break the flow of the main game and I've generally just ignored them in my most recent playthroughs. I like the added traits and perks though.

Dead Money fucking sucks, the only good part about it is stealing all the gold bars and being set for life. 0/10, by far the worst part of F:NV.

Honest Hearts is fun, but overrated. Joshua Graham is a cool character, and the map is a nice change of pace from the desert. I thought I enjoyed it more than I really did though, and on repeat playthroughs I grew bored of it.

Old World Blues is a lot of fun in my opinion, I love the futuristic shit. Really simple reason to like it, but it's the reason.

Lonesome Road is the top dog, period. I just really enjoy Ulysses as a character and how dialogue heavy the DLC is in general. I know it's a real love it or hate it situation with that, but in my case I really loved it.

I like them all except for Dead Money.

Don't get me wrong, I like the narrative of Dead Money but I like New Vegas for giving freedom to explore. Being railroaded by gas and bombs and holograms makes it feel like a totally different game and not the one I signed up for.

Honest Hearts in isolation is my favorite. The acting for Joshua Graham and his personal journey is fascinating. Ultimately, it is wasted and lack luster due to what little time we spend, and what time we do spend feeling meandering and generally just. Un fun. Joshua makes this dlc worth it alone, but without him, it is nothing.

Dead Money had a great premise and some good writing but I remember thinking the graphics engine was not up to snuff for bringing that type of environment to life, which is how I felt for a few different places in NV, but it really stood out here, it also wasn't much fun to actually play.

Honest Hearts I really liked for it's open environment and Joshua was an interesting character.

Old World Blues is probably the one I enjoyed the most, loved all the wacky Venture Bros esque humor.

Lonesome Road though I felt disappointed by, I didn't like how linear it was and all the writing just kind of went over my head, I would probably appreciate it more now.

This is something that is probably lost today as if you buy the game it probably includes all the DLC, but does anyone remember when NV was first released the paths that led to the DLC areas were blocked off but had hints related to them? I remember at least the path to the Lonesome Road area had graffiti messages addressed directly to you, the Courier and I think even related to Ulysses, I've never seen a game give a preview of DLC like that, does anyone remember what I'm talking about?

Lonesome Road was a drag and quite damn buggy from what I remember playing it on release. I'd always have to reload saves because I'd wind up falling through world geometry and getting stuck. Also Ulysses was annoying with his constant audio logs and droning on about his Chicago sports teams. All the other DLCs were pretty good. Loved cheesing the end section of Dead Money and getting all of the gold in that tote bag.

Old World Blues was the most intriguing to me, I loved the aesthetic and atmosphere. The mad scientist vibes, the tech, characters, everything rocked. Dead Money was pretty damn good too, Dean Domino is a chad (RIP Barry Dennen)...Honest Hearts was alright, when I heard about it I only played for Joshua Graham, the plot was ok but I didn't care at the time. I guess Honest Hearts is my least favorite then.

As for Lonesome Road, I've never actually gotten to play it. At least not yet. I haven't touched NV in a long while.

Sounds like my opinion matches everyone else.

First time through, all good except for Lonesome Road (pretentious waffle that doesn't add to much, but the writers clearly think Ulysses is deep). Old World Blues and Dead Money are the best.

Replaying
  1. Old World Blues. Great but makes the game unstable for me but lots of fun.
  2. Dead Money. Too railroady and certain builds break it for or against you, but the prize is good and some fun social checks.
  3. Honest Hearts. Fun enough. Haven't played it for a while. A lot of optional exploring to do.
  4. Lonesome Road. Complete shit. Bad story, linear uninteresting combat. Interesting weapons you can't use. (Nailgun crashes to the game often, rockets are useless for how expensive they are).

If only Point Lookout could be added to New Vegas.

Honest hearts would be great if it didn't fucking crash all the time even when I'm using the 4GB patch and other stability mods. I can't fuck about in the main overworld for more than an hour without having to keep spamming quicksaves. Still has my favorite armor set in the game, wish it had even more intangible scribbles.

Dead Money is not fun, which is the most biting insult I can give it.
Honest Hearts is my favorite. Zion is so pretty and a nice change of pace from the empty desert of the Mojave, and the characters in HH are some of my favorites.
Old World Blues is my second favorite, if you can get past the lol science humor, it's actually a really deep and thoughtful DLC.
Lonesome Road is fucking insufferable. It gives you enough loot and weapons to give you a reason to play it, but Ulysses is the worst, most annoying Gary Stu ever put in a video game. It's also a straight goddamn path of a DLC in an open world game. Fucking great idea that.

Oddly, I enjoyed Dead Money despite the circumstances being somewhat contrived. You're definitely more reliant on skills than equipment. There's also a kind of melancholic air that pervades it -- the sad downfall of everyone involved in the Sierra Madre.

Honest Hearts' big weakness is that it's fairly straightforward. It enjoys some excellent voice acting (Joshua Graham was intimidating as fuck, at least to me).

Old World Blues is one of those DLCs that you kinda have to be a fan of zeerusty, 50's sci-fi to REALLY get into. It leans heavily on the whole 'science fixes everything' mentality seen back in those days.

Lonesome Road is by far the worst DLC I've ever played in a Fallout game. Yes, that includes Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. It is a fucking slog, a drag where you have to stop and search everywhere to get the best ending. The plot itself is horribly contrived, far worse than Dead Money on its worst day, and I'd rather fuck a cactus than listen to Ulysses justify himself.

Dead Money: A tedious slog to get some good rewards. I have to wonder if Obsidian was trying to make the worst looking Fallout DLC, because they nailed making the Villa a total eye sore (loved that one area that had a shit brown tint, they really outdid themselves there). God is the most irritating companion in any of the Fallout titles, he never shuts the fuck up about wanting to wear my Pip-Boy around his neck. I will contend that Father Elijah was a genuinely good antagonist, and the backstory for the Sierra Madre was fascinating.

Honest Hearts: The least baggage amongst the New Vegas DLCs. It could've had more content, and it was a missed opportunity to not allow Legion players to side with the White Legs, but I never had any tedious moments while playing it. Probably has the best weapons out of them all, I adore the Survivalist's Rifle and .45 weapons.

Old World Blues: Other than the 30+ minute dialogue intro and bullet sponge enemies, this is the best New Vegas DLC, maybe even the best Fallout DLC period. The map alone is such a joy to explore even after several playthroughs, and I loved the bonus Perks you can acquire throughout the DLC.

Lonesome Road: A different sort of tedious slog with decent weapons. Ulysses is a fucking waste of all that buildup.

Overall, I find the DLCs to be the most inconsistent of the series. The best highs, and the worst lows.

>Dead Money
Really love the story and atmosphere and grew to appreciate it even more with each playthrough. Hate some of the mechanics though and just ended modding the indestructible explosive collar triggering speakers out for new playthroughs.

>Honest Hearts
Probably my favorite one. Really liked exploring Zion, discovering the Survivalist's story piece by piece and everything about Joshua Graham. It's also a 1911 fudd's wet dream and that suits me just fine.

>Old World Blues
Good wacky fun, the humor does border on obnoxious for me sometimes but it pulls it off. Runner up for me.

>Lonesome Road
Never cared much for it, really. Ulysses wasn't particularly compelling and I didn't care for the new weapons much either. Lowest one here, not objectively horrible but I only finished it once.
