During the late 2000s and early 2010s YouTube was large enough to host a large diversity of content but wasn't quite the corporate giant it is today. This combined with many young teens discovering anime for the first time who wanted to make their own, created an explosion of creative albeit poorly made animations. I like to call this time period the golden age of Fanime.
But what exactly IS Fanime?
Most Fanime have these characteristics in common: images drawn in ms paint, most likely animated in Microsoft movie maker, poorly drawn, poorly thought out plot, and a whole lot of heart and effort put into the project.
One of the most prolific Fanime that some of you have probably seen floating around the web is Neko Sugar Girls

But the truth is this isn't really real Fanime, it is a parody of Fanime and was created to be intentionally bad, although the art seems to be better than some of the other entry's that you will see.
So lets dive into real Fanime that was made without a shred of irony. Here are some wonderful examples and some of my favorites:
Moth and The Man
This interesting creation was made by Tacky Animations. She doesn't really have an internet presence anymore and most of her animation's have been lost to time. If you happen to have archives of any of her videos please share them or send them to me. Her art is what originally inspired me to make this thread and I have a ton of nostalgia for her videos.
Tokyo Crystal Mew
One of the most popular it had quite a cult following and many other Fanime creators did try to copy this masterpiece. It is also known for its particularly bad artwork.
Eternal
A sailor moon inspired one.
Look at this hunk

Here are some post 2010 examples:
Nelipot
I vividly remember watching this one around the time it came out. I remember the opening for the first episode had the song kininaru ano ko which I still love to this day. That song unfortunately is most likely the reason the first episode is blocked. Here is a playlist of the episodes. There is also a Tumblr.
Finally here is a playlist I found that contains a lot of Fanime. It really is a shame that these types of creations are no longer widely made. Sure the art isn't the best and the voice acting is terrible, but you can tell a lot of heart was put into making these. They are super cringey and really make me miss old YouTube.

I'm going to put downloads for the unlisted videos just incase they get removed
