Not necessarily scary ones, we already have a thread. So what do you find bizarre?

For me it's rich or famous people who are my age or younger than me. I'm on a successful and gainful career path, so it doesn't make me envious. It's just that I still sometimes think of people who are slightly younger than me as kids or teenagers. Maybe I'm just a 30-year-old boomer.

The concept of discovery in my opinion. I know everyone has made the joke of 'how did this catch on',but seriously though how did some things catch on?
Who ate the first non-poisonous mushroom and was like 'yeah, shits good, lets eat some more.'

Makes me think of a Calvin and Hobbes quote on milking cows: "Who was the first person to think, 'I'm gonna drink whatever comes out of these when I squeeze them?'''

The intractable nature of biases. I'm sure we all know people who, no matter how smart they are, can't grasp certain concepts lest those concepts undermine previously accepted axioms. That's not to say that everyone ought to entertain all ideas no matter how foolish; I'm talking about relatively simple things that should be obvious dismissed out of hand for their broader implications.

You do it, I do it, our grandpas all did it. It's an integral part of human cognition and it's annoying as hell sometimes.

It’s pretty overdone at this point, but if you think too hard about how vast and large the universe is, everything you and everyone you know have ever done seems insignificant.
Ehh. If by some miracle of chance we're the only living beings in the universe/galaxy I believe we as a species are quite important to our own sphere. I always saw that comparison between us and the universe like comparing the best vegetarian to the best pianist. Why care about that sphere of work to that of my own?
