The left has always been about consent
My sweet summer child. I would never admit this on the forum of slurs and contrarianism but I am very left leaning. If you think men on the left are any more "about consent" than men on the right then you are living a blessed life. Men are men, consent is not a partisan issue, the only difference between men on the left and men on the right is how they justify their behaviour. Let's cast our minds back to... yesterday... when it was revealed how democrat hero and rapist Graham Platner thinks about consent.
Arguably, men on the right are "about consent" because they are open about their contempt for women and are upfront about how exactly how little they think of consent. Men on the left
pretend to be feminists and
pretend to care deeply about consent until the pants are off and then they're indistinguishable from men on the right. Men on the right are wolfs in wolfs clothing, men on the left are wolfs in sheeps clothing.
People can fathom something is a sex thing. I haven't been choked myself but from what I understand part of it is also pressing on the side of neck to minimize discomfort and press on the blood vessels instead of the throat, a level of care entirely different from someone seeking out to abuse and intimidate their partner.
I have friends who, for some reason beyond my grasp, genuinely enjoy the pain of anal sex and being unable to sit down afterwards over sex like god intended, in their vagina. I am sure there are women out there who do genuinely enjoy erotic asphyxiation too, even some lesbians, uncorrupted by men, enjoy being choked. All that can be true, and it can be true that a man willing to risk killing his partner or cause permanent brain damage is neither probably or even plausibly exercising "a level of care entirely different from someone seeking out to abuse and intimidate their partner". Choking is
very fucking dangerous.
Individual cases of "Look at this x doing y" don't mean much.
The aggregate is made up of the individual. If large swathes of women in the kink
community are saying they were coerced or didn't enthusiastically consent, a pretty reasonable take away is that maybe there's a fundamental issue.
we are sharing individual horror stories of things we don't like to further our narratives.
You're being dismissive by framing this conversation as a
narrative. Why can't it be my truth, my understanding of the world, the sum of every experience in my life and the lives of my friends and family and acquaintances and the things I've read and seen and heard? I'm sharing what I know to be true, what a lifetime has taught me, not some
narrative I picked out of a hat to push this week.
How many individual horror stories is required to make a pattern? Here's 10 (plus dozens more in the comments):

And special focus on this story:
Got choked without consent and regret telling my friend
My friend reassured me that this person was "a good guy" albeit quite kinky, and had received "good reviews" from other women. I went out with this guy and made it clear that I had no experience in BDSM or kink and was quite nervous about the idea. This guy reassured me that we would take things slow and that anything we explored together would be at my speed and consent. [...] Anyway, we had sex for the first (and only) time and he choked me without asking.
Want to bet on this "good guy"'s politics?
