Fiction That Insulted You Personally?

We've all come across bad movies, books, TV shows, video games, etc. We'd lambaste it about how bad it is, talk about how it was poorly done or how it was just a waste of time and money, etc. But otherwise, you tend to just shrug it off at best or just yell at it for a moment at worst and move on cause it was just a bad fictional work or what not and not worth thinking about after the fact.

But then once in a while you come across these works. They're not only bad, but they're bad in such a specific way or in what it's saying that you feel almost like it's a personal attack on you. As in it insults something you hold dear or something you personally value or believe in or maybe even just pisses you off because of how it takes something you care about and destroys it for no reason and it leaves you with nothing but pure, unbridled HATE.

For the record, I don't mean like the work is insulting your religious beliefs (though you could do that too if it goes against them that badly). I mostly mean by how a work seems to insult you personally.

I mean, there's a literature sub-forum and a multimedia subforum. And my question is broad enough to encompass both spheres. So I thought it'd make sense to post it on both places.

So anyways, what piece of fiction pissed you off?
As in flat out hate?

Thats a tough question, I'll answer when a few other people answer because i cant think of any right now

I don't pay for that shit, I'm a dyed in the wool pirate but if i did I would get more angry I'm sure.
I remember loving the look of pure shock on my classmates faces when I ranted abt my hatred of Netflix. Even better when they asked me abt what I use for watching shit.

On a personal level BTW.

I think the only thing that has ever made me angry had to be Stories Untold was a fun little mystery/text adventure where the gameplay always evolved really loved 99%. The last 1% made me want to Ethan Ralph a few puppies(in minecraft).

It felt like I was being talked down to as well it just being such a shif payoff never have a been so angry at any media in my life before or after.

The ending of The Stand ticked me off real good. What was the fucking point of the protagonists trekking across the country and sacrificing themselves of the literal hand of God was just gonna come down and nuke Las Vegas anyways? The whole plot literally has no point because regardless of what the protagonists did, it would’ve resolved itself through literal divine intervention anyways.

None to be honest. I'll either go, "I love this, "this wasn't for me" or "whatever." I don't really "hate" pieces of media. There has been no piece of media throughout my life, video game, movie, book, TV show, or anything that ever really pissed me off or offended me. If something is really shitty, then I just laugh at it.

I don't really hype things up or anticipate anything, so I guess I have nothing to be let down or insulted about. Media to me is like a big pile of random assorted stuff, a junkyard if you will. I'll swift through it and eventually I'll find a thing that I love. Those things just happen to be very far few in between, and they're usually not new.

Because of that, a few people give me shit and say "Why do you always play old games or watch old movies" and they'll act like I'm snobbish or just stuck in the past and a "boomer" and I'll just honestly tell them that the things I like the most just so happen to be older, that's really all there is to it, yet they have a hard time believing me when I say that. Those types of people tend to be the ones to hype things up, and/or get offended by a piece of media, it's just bonkers really.

People who do that are just morons. Sorry to say.

You have to really try to piss me off fiction-wise, so I'm not sure if there's anything that would cause me to rage per se. I've dropped stuff before when it became too boring or I felt it was spinning its wheels but nothing's coming to mind in terms of anger. As an example of something I haven't seen that probably pissed a lot of people off, that Robert Pattinson film that randomly concludes by revealing that Rob's character died in 9/11 (actually showing the towers) is probably up there.

Oreimo was the catalyst of me hating light novels. Mostly because of Kirino. The fact that this obvious Mary Sue with all this popularity and wealth is worried that she would be hated for liking anime and not being a degenerate siscon. Hell, the third episode in the anime pointed it out was it wasn't the fact the father was mad for having anime, but the fact why his 14 year old daughter has porn in which Kyousuke had to take the "bullet" for the bitch.

The point the story went out of its way at the beginning saying that anime watchers aren't weird only to end up with Kirino trying to marry her brother.

Oreimo showed me the utter pretentious nature of light novels.

The Dark Tower movie is the only piece of entertainment that has legitimately pissed me off. Stephen King constantly sucking it’s dick made me lose what little respect I still had for him. Moron acts like Stanley Kubrick killed his puppy with his adaptation of The Shining but he was a-ok with this abomination of an adaptation that barely resembled his work? Fuck you, you fucking hypocrite! And it would have been better if “Roland wore a hat” okay I’m convinced you’re a fucking autist now if you think that would have been the movie’s saving grace and not the million other things wrong with it

MOTI ranting aside, it’s a long story that would involve a lot of powerleveling, but The Dark Tower books mean a great deal to me, so when I saw what they were doing to it, yeah I felt insulted.

I haven't seen it (and have no plans to as much as I love McConahay and Elba as actors), but I read through the original script. I thought it was actually alright as the beginning of an "adaptation"/sequel/remixed version of the original books. (Familiar, but all the elements are out of order and unpredictable.) And I think if they had planned more films and had gone with the original ending, which was much more faithful to the first book (Roland shooting and killing Jake through the portal), it might have been decent.

But as it stands... I don't even see why they produced or released it at all. And the fucking Amazon series falling apart is arguably even more frustrating, because you could only really adapt the books as a series.

My wokedar helps me avoid things that will insult me, but there was a scene in Billions that pissed me off. Paul Giamatti's character is telling a story about how he and his friends used to play Cowboys and Indians, and another white guy cuts him off to correct him and say "Native Americans."

Goddamn that pisses me. As a real-life "Native American" I can attest that we call each other Indians all the time. The Rez is called Indian Country for a reason. Holy fuck, do-gooding white people are a cancer, and if there weren't so few of us already I'd just call it a day and cut my fucking wrist to escape this faggot Clown World.

Honestly Stephen King is such a whiny bitch about Stanley Kubrick's adaption of the Shining you know the version everyone loves and still talks about to this day. Well King's adaption is shit and no one talks about it. So him praising crap for woke points. Just proves how shitty he is
