I've been seeing this shit all over Twitter recently. They've pissed a ton of people off with this video and it's got other Youtubers like Boogie talking about them. I don't even watch their shit but this controversy caught my eye enough.

Le backpedal:

This is the kind of reception they got for this video. Tl;dr, they think that making React to That videos impacts the world and they're coming up with this shit called React World. They want to license their videos too from what I'm understanding.

Lastly, this video from Boogie about this topic. 15 minutes long and I didn't watch the whole thing but I still wanted to throw it in there anyway.

From the video description:

REACT Community Unite! REACT WORLD is a new and innovative way to license formats around the globe with no upfront cost, and our goal is to cultivate a worldwide community of creators (media companies, other production companies, and individuals) on digital media platforms around the REACT franchise. Since creating React in 2011, we’ve aimed for our productions to be a time capsule for future generations to look back on to understand what their parents, grandparents, or ancestors were thinking and doing during this incredible time, and by opening up the various React formats to you all around the world, we hope to grease the wheels for us to understand the world better now, to shine a light on topics and issues both large and small, and learn and appreciate one another more. We believe that together, we can build something larger than any of us can do on our own, and help change the world through reaction, opinion, and conversation.

NOTE: React World allows you to license some of FBE's most popular series (the specific elements and structure of each show). With that comes a suite of support that you can read about at the website.

We do not hold a copyright on reaction videos overall. No one can. React World is about licensing FBE's show formats, not just for shows like Kids React, but also others like "Do They Know It?," "Lyric Breakdown," and more. This is similar to TV where you can't make a show substantially similar to "America's Got Talent," but of course you can make a completely different talent competition series. Same deal here.

We do not own the idea of reaction videos nor would we shut down anyone making reaction based content. Of course you can make your own react videos, but React World is an opportunity to localize versions of our specific series. This is also a way to create a community on YouTube of like minded producers and fans who want to work together, and benefit from the guidance and resources that we can provide around the specific FBE shows that we are making available through the React World program.

I don't even like reaction videos but man, the YouTube community is in uproar over this especially how terrible the YouTube reputation has gone.

Seems like they're going into damage control:

i am currently unable to see the video at the moment, can we get a summary.
i'll bet money that their reason has to do with "quality of content"
I checked Socialblade Stats and in the past few days, they've already lost a couple thousand subscribers.

So I'm trying to wrap my head around this. These guys say they want to get people in other markets (presumely non English speaking markets) to make videos in their style, in exchange for use of logos and equipment and guidance (whatever that means) they take a cut of revenue you generate.

What it sounds like to a lot of people is that they also are trying to use the long arm of the law to crush anyone whom they feel might be competition to them.

How they will actually execute this still remains to be seen, but a lot of people don't seem to trust them.

They also think YouTube reaction videos will change the world or something.

Am I following this correctly?
