Ok thoughts on today

Wales vs Iran- That red card really fucked over (US fans) as a tie would have been really nice. It did mean that we had to beat Iran but Iran can kinda play for a draw to get through. But at least we aren't going into this game looking for help

US vs England- Would have taken this result before the game started. England should have blown us out but Southgate certainly knows how to take defeat out of the jaws of victory. Outside of the first 20 minutes, I don't think England did anything. Their attacking squad was completely neutered. Henderson came on and finally exposed the run that should have been made through the back line, Grealish was causing issues running at the second weakest position the US has (Zimmerman is the weakest then our RB is the second). Even Rashford was doing something when he came on. Why Foden and TAA weren't playing was beyond me. The outside backs had all day to do something but nothing came from it and there wasn't anything to be done. The US played way better than I thought and there were 2 really good chances from Pulisic and McKennie and hopefully they learn to score in the final game


Senegal vs Qatar- game Senegal should have won. Qatar was never going to do anything and South Africa can breathe a sigh of relief knowing they weren't the worst host nation anymore. Senegal were going to have to beat Ecuador on the final day to go through and this doesn't change that

Ecuador vs Netherlands- Great result for Ecuador. They go into the final game needing a draw to advance which means Senegal have to push and leave themselves venerable. Netherlands should have some worries going into the knock out stages but I can't imagine them losing to Qatar with a spot in the knockout stages on the line
 
Southgate is lucky Pulisic hit the crossbar or he'd have an effigy strung up like Beckham after that managerial brilliance.
67 minutes for a substitution, no players between the two forward US lines for the defenders to distribute, no attempt at longballs after a total lack of creativity for 2/3 of the game. Fuck Soufgate for making me watch that.
 
Argentina - Mexico is going to be wild tonight.

Should Mexico win Argentina would be out with Poland and Mexico having 4 Points each and the Saudis still would have a chance to move forward if they should win their last game.
 
God, I hope this game escalates. We had no fights so far. I want blood. Fightfightfightfight! Let's gooooo!
 
Argentina are such an average side without Messi. His goal forced Mexico to open up and allowed for a second goal. But they are certainly not the tournament favorites I thought they were. Still have to see how Spain play against Germany and how Brazil handle playing without Neymar but France look like the big time team to beat...again.

Mexico might finally miss out on their 4 games this world cup. But they certainly aren't out. They will have to beat a really good Saudi Arabia side and hope that Argentina lay the beat down on Poland. Insane that all 4 of these teams can either move on or be eliminated on the final day


Australia vs Denmark looks like the game to watch in Group D. I can't imagine that Tunisia will manage to get enough past France to go through but it could happen. France are the first team through and will probably woop up on Tunisia with their second team
 
So no surprises today.

Every game was a close call but tbh I expected this for all of the four games today.

Quite a bit disappointed from Argentina - Mexico. Expected it to be a really heated game bc of their rivalry and for what was on the line. I really expected the Mexicans to be highly motived to fuck Argentina out of the tournament. Imagine you could hew your name into the books of football history for sending Messi the G.O.A.T. home from a world cup after just 2 matches and it's very likely his last WC.
Very disappointing, Mexico, very disappointing.

The 2:0 for Argentina was masterclass.
