That’s pretty huge news as much as I didn’t like him. Pretty wacky theory his brother has that the Qatari government offed him because he wore that gay pride shirt to a game. It was probably just one of those ‘died suddenly’ incidents we’re seeing in the news so much lately, being attributed to global warming, referee whistles, red meat, napping during the day, air pollution, strenuous exercise and sex etc etc.

Thoughts on the 2 games today
Brazil- Can we stop ranking these fuckers in the top 3 now? Not winning a quarter final since 2002 should not give you top ranking. Hell even Belgium got to the semis once so their shitty ranking is slightly more justified. A team of full on attackers who can't score and then try to defend is always a disaster. At this rate, Brazil are going to turn into an African nation where they just have a ton of attackers who do their own thing and have no tactics
Croatia- idk what blood ritual they have done to make sure they always win in penalties but holy fuck. You have to beat them in regular time because they are gonna fuck you up. Plus I think Modric is bathing in baby blood with Hillary Clinton because he shouldn't be doing it at this age
Netherlands- The literal only reason to cheer for this team in my position was so Van Gaal would get cockier and say some other stupid shit. Idk how a country with an amazing ability to develop players finds a way to fuck it up in the world cup. (Fun fact, there are 3 countries who have made the finals of a world cup more than once but have never won it. Netherlands, Czechoslovakia, and Hungary)
Argentina- This just looks like the exact run they had when winning the Copa America before. None of these games will be a blow out and it will always be a shit show. But damn if its not entertaining. You want goals? You got goals. You want fights? You got fights. You want shit talking? You got shit talking. You wanna see a collapse that makes the game way closer than it should be? You got it. I think Argentina will end up being the last non european team left. I just wish they didn't have to play Croatia because those 2 teams are actually filled with mostly their countrymen (ignoring the germans in Argentina)

Now that emotions of the day have already worn off, my honest thoughts:
1) This was possibly the poorest Brazil in a while. All the big names were either far past their prime or way too young, no middle points. Richarlison did his best i give that to him, but the brazilian national team can't work like that. It was a decent run, nothing too embarrassing except the brazilian press losing It's goddamn mind about that average team. Tite should have resigned in 2018, and the Copa América was his last warning. Dancing to South Korea as if they were 90's France was ridiculous. Recognizing small teams in that way is a mistake.
2) Van Gaal had the right idea. In fact he objectively controlled the match. His only problem is that this isn't 2014 and as much cope this causes, Argentina is a legit team. Maybe not a dreamteam, but a solid team. Not only on the pitch but out of it too. If Messi is not that good taking banter, his teammates took note of all the statements and used it as fuel (literally, you can seach this) . This team just works around in covering all of Messi's shortcomings. Your only hopes are destabilize Messi enough so the team paralyzes (Saudi Arabia, but that's hardly going to work in a semifinal/final) or playing the whole team's disadvantages (Like they're 15cm shorter in average than the rest, and we all saw how that worked. And with this you risk leaving Messi too alone, and we also saw the results of this)
maybe is not the best team, but also it's not an easy or predictable team. You can put 3 men marking Messi and his aspenger ass would pull something like the frist goal today just because he now somewhat trusts his players.
I have an strong feeling that Argentina vs Croatia would be 90 mins of parking the bus on both sides. Particularly because I don't think Croatia would risk injuring players in a semi and half of the Argentina team has yellows already. If Croatia is smart, they would NOT recognize the argentinian team in any way because they're at jordanesque levels of inventing new enemies and fueling of that rage, and maybe could try to ambush them a la Arabia 2.0. But frankly, I don't know if they're going to think that much. 4 people marking Messi and a fucking bus would be.

God this is why I hate people like Grant Wahl's faggot brother. In other news, apparently the Dutch and European press tried to frame the Argies as the chimps, turns out the Dutch were the real instigators.

Still don't understand why they wear pride attire to an Islamic country like Qatar.
